E4 has set an April premiere date for new comedy series ‘Maxxx‘ that offers a rude and cringe-inducing peek behind the pop world’s curtain.
‘Maxxx’ centres around a formerly famous boyband star, played by writer, director and actor O-T Fagbenle (‘Black Widow’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, ‘Looking’). Maxxx is trying to make his music come back in a bid to win back his famous Supermodel ex-girlfriend Jourdan Dunn and prove to the world that he isn’t a washed-up old has-been!
To get his career back on track Maxxx enlists the help of his cousin-slash-superfan-slash-stalker Rose, played by Helen Monks (‘Raised by Wolves’, ‘Upstart Crow’), and tries to convince his former manager Don Wild played by Christopher Meloni (‘Happy!’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’) to take him back but he has other ideas and recruits the help of wannabe manager Tamzin, played by Pippa Bennett-Warner (‘MotherFatherSon’, ‘Harlots’). Maxxx is also hunted by Lucky played by Javone Prince (‘Phone Shop’, ‘The Javone Prince Show’) who is Maxxx’s former bandmate.
Maxxx is produced by Luti Media a ground-breaking production company known for creating some of the most viewed content on the internet with iconic music videos for the likes of Drake, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rita Ora, and campaigns for leading brands including Adidas, BMW, and Beats By Dre. Luti Media was founded by O-T Fagbenle’s younger brother Luti, and ‘Maxxx’ will be their debut comedy TV series. The series is directed by Nick Collett & O-T Fagbenle, and produced by Ali Carron.
‘Maxxx’ has been commissioned for E4 by Fiona McDermott, Head of Comedy, and Jack Bayles, Commissioning Editor. The Executive Producer is Luti Fagbenle (Jay-Z & Beyonce – OTR II, One Direction – Best Song Ever, M.O.T.H, Mixtape). The series is co-funded by Channel 4 and all3media international.
‘Maxxx‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 2nd April 2020 at 9.30pm on E4. The full series will be available, free to view or download, on All 4 from that date too.
