‘Project Blue Book’ & ‘Knightfall’ Cancelled By History Channel

It’s not a good day for fans of UFOs or the Knights Templar, as the US History Channel has opted to cancel both Project Blue Book & Knightfall after 2 Seasons each it has been announced.

‘Project Blue Book’  starred ‘Game of Thrones’ Aidan Gillen as college professor J. Allen Hynek who is recruited to investigate UFO-related phenomena. Hynek is teamed up with Capt. Michael Quinn, played by ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Michael Malarkey, with each episode taking inspiration from the actual declassified ‘Project Blue Book’ files, which was a real-life clandestine program run by the US Air Force in the 50s and 60s. As the duo worked through thousands of cases, many of which were never solved, the show blended UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history.

‘Knightfall’ told the story of The Knights Templar, the most powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order of the Middle Ages, entrusted with protecting Christianity’s most prized relic – the Holy Grail – and harbouring secrets capable of great destruction. The series starred Tom Cullen (‘The Five’, ‘Downton Abbey’), Mark Hamill (‘Star Wars’), Jim Carter (‘Downton Abbey’), Padraic Delaney (‘The Tudors’, ‘Legend’), Simon Merrells (‘Dominion’, ‘Spartacus’), Ed Stoppard (‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’, ‘The Musketeers’) and Olivia Ross.

Both dramas were produced by A+E Studios, with ‘Project Blue Book’ being co-produced by Compari Entertainment, and ‘Knightfall’ co-produced with The Combine and Midnight Radio. A+E Networks are the parent company of the US History Channel. In the UK, ‘Knightfall’ aired on History, whilst ‘Project Blue Book’ aired on Syfy UK.
