Superbowl 2023 Movie Trailers: ‘Flash’, ‘GotG 3’, ‘Indy’, ‘D&D’, ‘Scream VI’, ‘Fast X’ & More

Last night was the Superbowl in the USA, but, for those of us with not a huge amount of interest in sport, it also brings with it big trailers for upcoming films. Most notably, we got the first full trailer for ‘The Flash’, along with ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy: Volume 3’, a new spot for ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’, and lots more! Here are some of the big film trailers which dropped last night.

The Flash

Worlds collide in ‘The Flash’ when Barry (Ezra Miller) uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod (Michael Shannon) has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no superheroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman (Michael Keaton) out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

Directed by Andy Muschietti, this movie has not been without controversy, due to the erratic and worrying behaviour of its star, who is currently undergoing treatment for mental health issues. However, DC has been determined to release it due to it being based on the “Flashpoint” comicbook and acting as a giant reset button for the DCU, heralding in the new Gunn/Safran era for their cinematic universe. Controversy aside, it does look spectacular… Both Keaton and Affleck’s Batman (Batmen?), Shannon back as Zod, and Sasha Calle playing a very kickass Supergirl… We shall see when it is released on 16th June 2023

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life – a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them…

The film sees Chris Pratt (Quill), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Vin Diesel (Groot), and Bradley Cooper (Rocket) all reprise their roles as the Guardians for possibly the last time in this current configuration. Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova also star. Directed by James Gunn, the movie premieres on 5th May 2023.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Experience the return of legendary hero, Indiana Jones, in the fifth instalment of this beloved swashbuckling series of films. Finding himself in a new era, approaching retirement, Indy wrestles with fitting into a world that seems to have outgrown him. But as the tentacles of an all-too-familiar evil return in the form of an old rival, Indy must don his hat and pick up his whip once more to make sure an ancient and powerful artefact doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

James Mangold (‘The Wolverine’, ‘Logan’) directs, based on a script by Mangold, Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth (‘Ford v Ferrari’, ‘Flag Day’). Harrison Ford returns in the lead role and is joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones and Boyd Holbrook. The film premieres on 30th June 2023.

Fast X

The Fast & Furious Saga launches the beginning of the end (one more to go) with ‘Fast X’. Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who are fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything – and everyone – that Dom loves, forever.

Bonus: PopCorners ‘Breaking Bad’

This last little bonus clip is not a movie trailer but sees Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Raymond Cruz reprise their ‘Breaking Bad’ roles as Walt, Jesse, and?Tuco as they “cook” up some tasty snacks in the iconic RV… Not quite sure how I feel about this, but its always great to see the gang back together, even if it is to sell a different kind of product!
