Alison Hammond Confirmed As New Host For ‘Bake Off’

Alison Hammond will be on the lookout for soggy bottoms as Channel 4 confirms the presenter will take over from Matt Lucas on The Great British Bake Off, alongside returning hosts/judges Noel Fielding, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

Hammond will enter the famous tent for the next series of the baking show, which will air on Channel 4 later this year. Alison previously appeared as a baker in 2020 for ‘Celebrity Bake Off’, but this time around she’ll welcome the Class of ‘23 to the nation’s best-loved baking show from the other side of the counter.

“Finally I can talk about it!” said Hammond. “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Great British Bake Off and can’t wait to meet this year’s bakers. It’s a huge honour to be back in the tent and I can’t wait to get started.”

The presenter and actress began her career on Channel 4 reality tv, appearing in Season 3 of ‘Big Brother’ in 2002. Despite being the second housemate to be evicted, her bubbly and friendly personality shone through, landing her a job as a reporter and presenter for ‘This Morning’ later that year, which she still does today.

“Alison is much loved, effortlessly funny and the owner of the best laugh in Britain,” adds Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer, Ian Katz. “She was a huge hit when she appeared on Celebrity Bake Off and we’re thrilled to have her back in the tent.”

Along with ‘Celebrity Bake Off’ Alison has also appeared on a number of other reality shows such as ‘I’m a Celebrity…’, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and ‘Celebrity Masterchef’, along with acting in dramas such as ‘Doctors’, ‘Palace Hill’ and ‘The Dumping Ground’.

“Alison has already proved herself to be a natural on Bake Off, maybe not as a baker, but as someone who brings an infectious warmth and humour into the tent and we can’t wait for this year’s bakers to meet her and Noel,” commented Kieran Smith, Executive Producer, Love Productions. “Welcome to The Great British Bake Off…”

The Great British Bake Off‘ Season 14 begins filming in Spring 2023, and will air on Channel 4 later this year. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.

In the meantime, ‘The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer‘ Season 6 begins Sunday, 19th March 2023 at 7.45pm on Channel 4, featuring stars such as actor David Schwimmer, pop star Jesy Nelson and comedians Rose Matafeo and Tom Davis.
