‘Billions’ To End With Season 7 According To Co-Star Dan Soder
Dan Soder has probably had some… interesting… phone calls from the bosses at Showtime this morning, as the actor and comedian, who plays “Mafee” on ‘Billions‘ let slip in an interview that the upcoming 7th Season would be the last…
Whilst appearing live on NBC Sports Football Night in Chicago, Soder commented “Season 7, the final season of Billions, is on its way,” before pausing and adding, “Am I not supposed to say that?… I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that…” At which point, the anchor, Mike Berman commented “It doesn’t matter. You just said it!” This led to Soder replying “It’s the final season.”
Probably not the way Showtime wanted the news to get out, but it’s out there now! Showtime has yet to confirm the news.
Assuming Soder is indeed correct, whilst ‘Billions’ may be ending, Paramount and Showtime are set to see it go out with a bang. It was announced back in February that Damian Lewis will return to the financial drama for half of the twelve-episode seventh season. When it does return, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.
That “from Wall Street to the world” comment, also helps set up a planned expansion of the drama, as Showtime/Paramount have a set of potential spin-offs in development – ‘Billions: Miami’, set in the world of private aviation, where the clientele believe the rules of society, government and gravity don’t apply to them, amidst the wealth, nightlife, contraband and the cryptocurrency that pulses through that city; ‘Billions: London’, operating in the world of UK finance; ‘Millions’, featuring diverse, thirtysomething, financial mogul wannabes doing whatever it takes to make it in Manhattan; And ‘Trillions’, based on fictional stories of the richest people in the world – titans of industry living all over the country but coming into contact and conflict with one another. None of these have yet been officially ordered to series, but if the main show does end, there are a lot more places the spin-offs could go.
‘Billions’ stars Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll and Maggie Siff, and is currently filming its seventh season in NYC. The series also stars David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Condola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn and Daniel Breaker.
‘Billions‘ Season 7 does not yet have a premiere date, but if you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
