Marvel has released a new trailer and June premiere date for ‘Secret Invasion‘, the upcoming series which sees Nick Fury return to track down shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.
The crossover event series, which is based on the popular comic book event, sees Samuel L. Jackson reprise his role as Nick Fury alongside Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, who first met in ‘Captain Marvel’, and last saw hanging out on a spaceship at the end of ‘Spider-man: Far From Home’. They are joined by fellow returning cast members Cobie Smulders as former Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Maria Hill; Don Cheadle, as James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine; And Martin Freeman as CIA operative Everett K. Ross.
In addition to returning cast, we have some new faces joining the series too, some of which we know their characters, some we don’t. The ones we do know include ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke as Talos’ daughter G’iah; Kingsley Ben-Adir (‘Peaky Blinders’) as Gravik, the leader of a group of Skrull extremists; And because you seemingly can’t film anything without her these days, Olivia Colman (‘The Crown’) as Sonya Falsworth, an antagonistic MI6 agent and old ally of Fury.
Cast we know are in the show, but don’t know their characters include Christopher McDonald (‘Hacks’), Carmen Ejogo (‘Your Honor’), Killian Scott (‘Ripper Street’), Charlayne Woodard (‘Pose’), Killian Scott (‘Love/Hate’), Samuel Adewunmi (‘You Don’t Know Me’), Dermot Mulroney (‘Hanna’) and Katie Finneran (‘Bloodline’).
‘Secret Invasion’ is created by Kyle Bradstreet (‘Mr. Robot’), based on the comic book story by Brian Michael Bendis, who is writer, showrunner and exec producer. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Jonathan Schwartz, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, and Brian Tucker also exec produce.
‘Secret Invasion‘ premieres Wednesday, 21st June 2023 on Disney+ worldwide.
