‘Disenchantment’ To End With “Part 5”, As Netflix Releases Trailer & September Premiere Date

Matt Groening's series will come to a close with the finale part

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has announced that Matt Groening’s animated series ‘Disenchantment’ will end with the upcoming “Part 5”, which will premiere on the streaming service this September. This was written as a conclusion to the story, so is a proper ending.

‘Disenchantment‘ whisks viewers away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio encounters ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools. The series features the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson (‘Broad City’) as Bean, Nat Faxon (‘Friends from College’) as Elfo, and Eric Andre (‘2 Broke Girls’, ‘The Lion King’) as Luci.

As we return for “Part 5”, it all endeth here. To save Dreamland from Queen Dagmar’s wicked rule, Bean must vanquish her mother and outrun a prophecy that foretells she will kill someone she loves. The stakes are as high as ever as our heroes face Satan, a headless corpse, an evil scientist and most terrifying of all- their true destiny.

Alongside John Jacobson, Faxon, and Andre, the voice cast also includes John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Noel Fielding, Meredith Hagner, David Herman, Sharon Horgan, Maurice LaMarche, Lucy Montgomery and Billy West.

‘Disenchantment’ was initially ordered for two seasons of 20 episodes, split into 4 parts of 10 episodes each. They then ordered a final batch of 10 episodes, which is technically Season 3, although referred to as “Part 5”, hence the somewhat confusing numbering!

Disenchantment‘ Part 5 premieres Friday, 1st September 2023 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
