Netflix has announced five actors who will be joining Netflix’s wonderfully fun YA drama Outer Banks when it returns for Season 4, with Pollyanna McIntosh, J. Anthony Crane, Brianna Brown, Rigo Sanchez & Mia Challis taking up roles.

‘Outer Banks’ is a coming-of-age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (the “Pogues”) in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The first three seasons saw John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and JJ (Rudy Pankow) on a high-stakes hunt to locate the legendary “El Dorado gold”, whilst also trying to determine the fate of John B’s missing father who had a connection to the treasure.

Without giving too much away, season three does rather conclude that arc. However, the last moments of the finale set up another possible gold hunt, this time for the sunken treasure of Edward Teach, aka Captain Blackbeard.

The returning cast for Season 4 includes all the aforementioned OG “Pogues”, alongside Carlacia Grant as Cleo, Austin North as Topper, Drew Starkey as Rafe, and Fiona Palomo who has been upped to a series regular role as Sofia. Given a number of the adults in the show did not… fair well… by the end of season three, the drama has drafted in five new faces for season four. They include:

  • Pollyanna McIntosh (The Walking Dead, Double Blind) as Dalia, a revolutionary-like leader and worldly baddie on a plunder who comes face-to-face with the Pogues.
  • J. Anthony Crane (Dead Ringers, Billions) as Chandler Groff. Darkly grief-stricken over the loss of his wife, he is welcoming to the Pogues on their latest adventure.
  • Brianna Brown (Dynasty, Eastsiders) as Hollis Robinson. The biggest realtor on the island who previously worked with Ward in a successful business deal, she now has her eye on Rafe for a new venture.
  • Rigo Sanchez (Animal Kingdom, Station 19) as Lightner, an imposing stranger with a piratical nerve. This dangerous and calculating outdoorsman appears to test the Pogues.
  • Mia Challis (FBI: International, Clickbait) as Ruthie, a wild child with a toxic streak who develops a close relationship with Topper.

The drama has been a massive hit for Netflix around the world, regularly taking the #1 spot globally in Netflix’s Top 10 TV (English) list, and leading Nielsen’s U.S. streaming chart following a new season launch. The series is created by Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, who will all return as showrunners and executive producers for Season 4.

If you’ve not watched the previous seasons, it really is a fun bit of escapist teen drama… Somewhat ‘The Goonies’ meets ‘Ozark’ meets ‘Dawson’s Creek’, which sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it really does! If you want to know more about the show, we have interviewed both Production Designer Daniel Novotny & Cinematographer Brad Smith, along with the series composer Fil Eisler, who give some really interesting insights into what goes into making the drama.

Outer Banks Season 4 does not yet have a premiere date but is currently filming, and due to premiere in 2024 on Netflix worldwide. If you want to keep track of this show you can add the show via our Never Miss system and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
