‘Vikings: Valhalla’ 3rd & Final Season Gets Trailer & July Premiere On Netflix

One more blood-soaked season to go!

by Dave Elliott

Vikings: Valhalla returns for its 3rd and final season this July, as Netflix sets a premiere date and releases a trailer for the conclusion of the epic drama.

Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived – the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).

“When we started this project five years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to craft a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying,” said co-creator and executive producer Jeb Stuart. “Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense storywise for our Leif, Freydís, and Harald’s voyages to end with our third season. And we really cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of history.”

When we left our warriors, there was blood… everywhere! But Leif, Harald, and Freydís are still not out of the woods following the events of Season 2. Season 3 begins seven years later. Freydis is now the undisputed leader of pagan Jomsborg, and Leif and Harald have achieved glory in Constantinople. But greater challenges lie ahead in order for each to reach their ultimate destiny.

The final season will introduce a couple of new characters, and some actors who will be familiar. Leif and Freydís’ father, Erik the Red, is set to make an appearance, played by none other than ‘ER’ and ‘Timeless’ star, Goran Visnjic. This season also introduces Maniakes, a fearless Byzantine general who answers only to the Emir, played by Florian Munteanu (‘Creed’ franchise, ‘Shang-Chi’).

From showrunner and executive producer Jeb Stuart, Valhalla is also executive produced by Morgan O’Sullivan, Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh and Alan Gasmer, Paul Buccieri, and also stars Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, David Oakes, Laura Berlin and Caroline Henderson.

Vikings: Valhalla‘ Season 3 premieres Thursday, 11th July 2024 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
