Greg Davies is back to tidy up more crime scenes (and meet more eccentric characters) as the BBC sets an October premiere date for ‘The Cleaner‘ Season 3.
Written by and starring Davies, the comedy follows Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead, a state-certified cleaning technician with a very special field of work – he is a crime scene cleaner responsible for the removal of any signs of death.
Armed with chemicals, scrubbing brushes and cleaning rags, Wicky removes the gruesome mess at the scene of the crime. When carrying out his duties, he stumbles across the strangest of people, from the victims’ relatives, employers, neighbours and acquaintances to occasionally even the murderers themselves. And because he’s a sociable type, he sometimes gossips more than he cleans…
Joining Greg for Season 3 are Steve Pemberton (Inside No 9), Sharon Rooney (Barbie), Ben Willbond (Ghosts), and Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones). The cast will also include Chaneil Kular (Sex Education), Derek Griffiths (Unforgotten), Gemma Whelan (Killing Eve), Harry Peacock (Toast of London), Paula Wilcox (Coronation Street), Philippa Dunne (Motherland), Rebekah Staton (Doctor Who), Rosie Cavaliero (The Power of Parker), Sheila Reid (Benidorm), Sophia Dall’Aglio (So Awkward), Vicki Pepperdine (Getting On), Viraj Juneja (Horrible Histories), and Zita Sattar returning in her role as PS Ruth Edwards.
In the opening episode, Wicky finds himself on a job for old school friend Justin, who it turns out has done rather well for himself with a dream house, supercar, adorable child, grand piano – and a big pool of blood in his hall where the grand piano, unfortunately, fell on someone. Reunited after years, the pair decide to call up a few other old friends and get the gang back together again. However, Wicky finds it increasingly hard to keep a lid on his massive jealousy.
The six-episode season is produced by SHUK (Studio Hamburg UK) for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The show was commissioned by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy for the BBC. The executive producer is Vivien Muller-Rommel and the producer is Sam Ward. The director is Tom Marshall and the casting director is Tracey Gillham. The commissioning editors for the BBC are Ben Caudell and Navi Lamba. BBC Studios will distribute the series globally, excluding German language markets. The Cleaner Series 1 and 2 is available on BBC iPlayer, and on BritBox International in Australia, North America and The Nordics.
The Cleaner is based on the multi-award-winning, long-running German comedy series Der Tatortreiniger (Crime Scene Cleaner) created by Ingrid Lausund.
‘The Cleaner‘ Season 3 premieres Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 9:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
