Paramount+ has released a trailer for Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan’s drama ‘Lioness‘ starring Zoe Saldaña, alongside Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman.
Inspired by an actual US Military program, the drama follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) as she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror. Season one introduced us to “The Lioness Program”, overseen by Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) and Donald Westfield (Kelly), which enlists an aggressive Marine Raider named Cruz (De Oliveira) to operate undercover alongside Joe among the power brokers of State terrorism in the CIA’s efforts to thwart the next 9/11.
In Season 2, as the CIA’s fight against terror moves closer to home, Joe, Kaitlyn, and Byron enlist a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a previously unknown threat. With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program.
That new operative is played by Genesis Rodriguez (‘Umbrella Academy’, ‘The Fugitive’, ‘Time After Time’) as Captain Josephina “Josie” Carillo, a fierce and dedicated helicopter pilot. The series also stars Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill and Hannah Love Lanier.
From Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan (‘Yellowstone’ franchise), the espionage thriller is currently filming in Texas. The series is executive produced by Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Keith Cox and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios exclusively for Paramount+. Season one of ‘Lioness’ set a new record as the most-watched worldwide series premiere on the service, at that time.
