Season 2 may only just have begun airing but Apple TV+ has already announced a Season 3 renewal for the Jason Segel and Harrison Ford hit comedy ‘Shrinking‘.
The critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-nominated comedy follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives… including his own.
Ford takes on the role of Dr. Phil Rhodes, a down-to-earth, sharp-as-a-tack “blue-collar shrink,” blunt but with an ever-present twinkle. Phil is a pioneer in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy who has built a successful practice over the years that he shares with his two young proteges, Jimmy and Gaby. Fiercely independent, Phil has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, which forces him out of his comfort zone as he grapples with intrusive friends, his estranged family and his legacy. In addition to Segel and Ford, the series stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie and Lukita Maxwell. Season two also features a guest star appearance by Brett Goldstein.

The news was announced at New York Comic Con, where creators Segel and Goldstein and stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley, took the Main Stage for a special discussion around the new season.
“It has been wonderful to watch audiences around the world fall in love with the memorable characters and rich world that Bill, Brett and Jason have created in ‘Shrinking,”” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “We are incredibly excited for viewers to see where life takes Jimmy, Paul, Liz, Gabby, Alice, Sean, Brian and Derek next as they continue on their moving, heartwarming and very funny journey in season three.”
Critics and fans all over the world continue to praise “Shrinking,” as season two has already been hailed as “one of TV’s warmest shows” and a “feel-good therapy sitcom” that “just keeps getting better,” with “superb writing,” “heartfelt and hilarious” moments, and “witty one-liners and A+ physical comedy” from a “tremendous cast.”
The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Annie Mebane, Rachna Fruchbom and Brian Gallivan all serve as executive producers on season two. Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley will serve as executive producers on season three.
