‘The Boys‘ has added a new face to the 5th and final season, as they announced ‘Stranger Things’ actor Mason Dye will take on the role of “Bombsight”, with a view to him also appearing in the upcoming prequel.
‘The Boys’ is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought – the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s the seemingly powerless against the super-powerful.
Whilst “Bombsight” hasn’t been seen in the series yet, he has previously been mentioned. He is the third oldest known “supe” in history, and was active in the ’50s, which is why it makes sense for him to be set up to appear in the prequel series, ‘The Boys: Vought Rising‘. That show will star Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles and is a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical manoeuvres of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. It seems “Bombsight” will only be a guest spot in ‘The Boys’, but would be a series regular on the prequel.
Mason Dye appeared in ‘Stranger Things’ as “Jason Carver”, captain of the Hawkins High Basketball Team and boyfriend of Chrissy Cunningham. He also had a recurring role in Prime Video’s ‘Bosch’ as “Tom”, and has popped up in shows such as ‘Teen Wolf’, ‘The Goldbergs’ and ‘Major Crimes’.
‘The Boys’ stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti.
‘The Boys’ is based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin, and Jason Netter also serve as executive producers. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
