Paramount+ has released the official trailer for ‘Yellowstone‘, which returns for Season 5, Part 2, in November 2024.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, ‘Yellowstone’ chronicles the Dutton family who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
It was originally thought that Season 5 would be the final season of the drama, following the much-discussed departure of lead actor Kevin Costner. However, it has since been reported that they were looking to continue the series with standouts Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) and Cole Hauser (ranch foreman Rip Wheeler) taking the lead roles. Currently, no deals have been signed as far as we’re aware, but they do seem to be hedging their bets. Whilst the trailer strapline does say “Generations of blood have led to this”, the trailer itself and the press release notably do not feature anything about “final season” or “final episodes” anywhere, which is unusual for such a large and beloved show.
Whether the main show does or does not return, we do know there is another spin-off incoming with ‘The Madison‘, the first show in the extended “Yellowstone universe” to be set in the current time period. Led by Michelle Pfeiffer, that series is described as a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana. It also stars Matthew Fox, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller.
‘Yellowstone’ is co-created by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Wind River, Hell or High Water and Sicario) and John Linson. Executive producers include John Linson, Art Linson, Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros and Keith Cox. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
