‘The Night Agent‘ is back for Season 2 as Netflix sets a January premiere date for the hugely popular drama, along with releasing a little teaser trailer of what is to come.
Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, ‘The Night Agent’ is a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centring on a low-level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.
The second season picks up after the high-octane events of season one. Peter’s efforts to save the president were successful, and now he’s earned the opportunity to become a Night Agent. Working in the secretive organization “Night Action” will push Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.
Season two of the drama sees Gabriel Basso (‘The Big C’) reprising his role as Peter, alongside Luciane Buchanan (‘The New Legends of Monkey’), as cybersecurity entrepreneur Rose Larkin. They’re joined by Amanda Warren (The Leftovers, Dickinson), Arienne Mandi (The L Word: Generation Q), Louis Herthum (Westworld), Berto Colon (Power Book II: Ghost), Brittany Snow (Almost Family) and Teddy Sears (The Flash, Masters of Sex).
In a rare move, Netflix announced back in October that it had already renewed ‘The Night Agent’ for a 3rd Season. However, given the drama’s numbers for season one made it their most-watched series in 2023 (by views) and it ranks as the 7th Most Popular English series on Netflix of all time, that maybe shouldn’t come as a shock.
‘The Night Agent’ comes from Shawn Ryan (The Shield, S.W.A.T.) with MiddKid Productions. Exec producers include Marney Hochman, Paul Bernard, Munis Rashid, Guy Ferland, Exhibit A Films: Seth Gordon, Julia Gunn, Project X Entertainment: David Beaubaire, Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, Nicole Tossou, and James Vanderbilt.
