Disney+ & Hulu Australian Original series ‘The Artful Dodger’ is set to be back for more cheeky thievery as they announce the drama has been renewed for Season 2.
Set in 1850s Australia, 15 years after the events of Oliver Twist, Jack Dawkins’ (aka The Artful Dodger) past returns to haunt him as he moves back to the world of crime after leaving behind pick-pocketing to become a surgeon. But, the arrival of Fagin in the lively colony of Port Victory, lures him back into his old ways.
A greater threat – to Dodger’s heart – is Lady Belle, the Governor’s daughter, determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon. From heists to life-and-death surgeries to the harsh realities of the criminal world mingling with the middle ground and gentry, this is a tale of reinvention, betrayal, redemption, and love… with a twist.
Season 2 will see the return of Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, Game Of Thrones) as Jack Dawkins, along with series regulars David Thewlis (Fargo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) as Fagin and Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble) as Lady Belle Fox. The are also promising “several new faces in exciting cameos” in Season 2.

The second season, which begins filming in 2025, sees series co-creator James McNamara lead the writing team with Kate Mulvany, Dan Knight and Miranda Tapsell. Ben Young and Gracie Otto serve as directors, with Jeffrey Walker consulting. McNamara created the series alongside David Maher and David Taylor. It is a Disney+/Hulu co-production with Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures.
