For this category we move away from live-action to pure animation, as we pick the Best Animated Series of the last 12 months. The competition here was tough, with a lot of choices. There was one show that we all thought might dominate, but ended up not quite making it into the top three. Here are your results.
Best Animated Series
Nominees: Arcane, Season 2 – Netflix, Futurama, Season 12 – Disney+, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Season 1 – Netflix, Monsters At Work, Season 2 – Disney+, My Adventures With Superman, Season 2 – Channel 4, Solar Opposites, Season 5 – Disney+, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Season 5 – Paramount+, Star Trek: Prodigy, Season 2 – Netflix, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Season 3 – Disney+, Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft, Season 1 – Netflix, X-Men ’97, Season 1 – Disney+
Bronze: Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Season 1 – Netflix
Silver: Avatar: X-Men ’97, Season 1 – Disney+
Gold Winner: Futurama, Season 12 – Disney+
Whilst here we all thought ‘Arcane’ would rank, it was just nudged out by ‘Chaos Theory’ fans, and Geektown favourite ‘X-Men ’97’ did land silver, but couldn’t take gold… That went to the beloved perennially cancelled and renewed ‘Futurama‘.
Launching in 1999, the series has been cancelled and renewed twice (so far) over its lifespan, and this win just goes to show how much fans still love the adventures of Fry, Leela, Bender, and the rest of the Planet Express team. It’s now in the second season of its latest revival, this time by Hulu/Disney+.
With all the cancellations and renewals, the season numbering has been all over the place, but according to Disney+ UK, there have been 12 Seasons so far, so let’s go with that! We’ll have to wait and see if it makes it to Season 13.
