The BBC has released a trailer and set a March premiere date for the 2nd Season of its hit drama ‘Ten Pound Poms‘, written and created by the BAFTA award-winning Danny Brocklehurst (Fool Me Once, Ordinary Lies, Brassic).
‘Ten Pound Poms’ follows a group of Brits leaving post-war Britain to embark on a life-changing adventure on the other side of the world. Today’s trailer sees the characters as they head into 1957, with nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) trying to forge a future for herself after season one followed her journey to Australia in search of her son, Michael. For the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown), Terry is determined to find stability and put down roots, whilst Annie rediscovers herself and uncovers exciting opportunities Down Under. With each determined to make Australia everything they hoped it would be for a fresh start, will Kate, Terry and Annie finally get a slice of the Australian dream they were promised?
The trailer released today also sees Robbie (Nic English) share a tender moment with Kate as they rekindle their friendship, whilst a new character – the unscrupulous landlord Benny Bates (Marcus Graham) – is introduced and has some words of wisdom for Terry. Will he bring sunshine into our returning characters’ lives… or just more drama?
‘Ten Pound Poms’ is produced by Eleven (Sex Education, Red Rose) for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, in a co-production with Stan. Danny Brocklehurst is the creator and writer and also executive produces. Joining Danny Brocklehurst on the writing team is Ryan Griffen (Cleverman) alongside Smita Bhide (The Indian Detective).
