Sci-fi Series ‘The Ark’ Renewed For Season 3

by Dave Elliott

Sci-fi series The Ark‘, from Dean Devlin (‘Stargate’, ‘The Librarians’, ‘Leverage’) and ‘Stargate SG-1’ co-creator Jonathan Glassnerwill return for Season 3 US broadcaster Syfy has announced.

‘The Ark’ takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions have begun as a necessity to help secure the survival of the human race. In season two, after the brave crew of Ark One reached their destination and found it uninhabitable, they needed to survive long enough to locate a new home for themselves and all the ships that would follow them.

“We’re thrilled to launch another season of The Ark!” says series creator, co-showrunner and executive producer Dean Devlin. “Back in space again, and the best is yet to come!”

The series stars Christie Burke (Maid) as Lt. Sharon Garnet, one of the three highest-ranking remaining members of the crew and the de facto captain of the ship after the disaster (oh… and she’s also a clone…); Richard Fleeshman (The Sandman) as Lt. James Brice; Reece Ritchie (The Outpost) as Lt. Spencer Lane (and his clone Ian); Stacey Read as Alicia Nevins, a waste management engineer with coding skills who is promoted to chief of life support; And Ryan Adams as Angus Medford, a young horticulturist whose duties include crop development at the prospective colony.

There’s also Pavle Jerinic as Felix Strickland, acting head of security enforcement; Shalini Peiris as Dr. Sanjivni Kabir, the ships only remaining doctor; Christina Wolfe as Dr. Catrina “Cat” Brandice, a social media star and “relationship specialist” whom Garnet orders to be the head of ship-wide mental health; And Tiana Upcheva as Eva Markovic, acting head of maintenance, engineering and construction.

If you’ve yet to catch the show, the first two seasons are available via Sky On Demand and NOW. It’s a really entertaining show, with a lot of heart. No, the budget isn’t all that high, but they make it work, and it is a huge amount of pure space sci-fi fun, which is something which has been sorely lacking in recent years!

Devlin and Glassner are co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson of Electric Entertainment. Jonathan English of Balkanic Media and Steve Lee serve as producers.

The Ark‘ Season 3 does not have a premiere date and isn’t expected to arrive until 2026. It airs on Sky Sci-fi in the UK and on Syfy in the USA.  If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
