Disney’s ‘Percy Jackson And The Olympians’ Series Gets A Very Early Season 3 Renewal!

by Dave Elliott

Disney+’s Percy Jackson And The Olympians series has landed a very early Season 3 renewal, as Season 2 is still in production and not due out until December, but the streamer has already decided it wants more!

The series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

The main reason for rushing through the renewal seems to be due to the ages of the cast. Walker Scobell (“Percy Jackson”), Leah Sava Jeffries (“Annabeth Chase”), and Aryan Simhadri (“Grover Underwood”) are currently between 15-18 years old, but growing up fast, and author Rick Riordan, on whose books the series is based, had said they are trying to do one novel per season. With a two-year gap between seasons one and two, and seven books (currently) in the novel series, they need to shorten that space between seasons if they want to keep it believable that the lead actors are still school-aged.

“We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favourites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time,” commented Riordan. “It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”

The upcoming second season is based on the second instalment of Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series titled “The Sea of Monsters” by award-winning author Rick Riordan. In the new season, Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri are joined in season two by returning cast Charlie Bushnell (“Luke Castellan”) and Dior Goodjohn (“Clarisse La Rue”) who are upped to series regulars. New recurring characters include Tamara Smart as Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, and Daniel Diemer as Percy’s half-brother Tyson. Courtney B. Vance takes over the role of Zeus from Lance Reddick, who sadly passed away shortly after the release of season one.

Created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ is executive produced by Steinberg and Dan Shotz alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, TheGotham Group’s Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson and Craig Silverstein.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ Season 2 is expected to land in December 2025. If you want to keep track of this, or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
