The BBC has revealed first-look images from its brand-new four-part thriller ‘The Guest‘, a gripping and propulsive psychological drama set to arrive this Autumn on BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and BBC One Wales.
Created, written and executive produced by Matthew Barry (Men Up), the series stars Gabrielle Creevy (In My Skin), Eve Myles (Keeping Faith), Sion Daniel Young (The Left Behind), and Emun Elliott (The Rig). Produced by Quay Street Productions (Fool Me Once, Dead Hot, Missing You) for the BBC in a co-commission with BBC Cymru Wales, the show promises a dark, intense look at obsession, manipulation, and the fallout from toxic relationships.
‘The Guest’ centres on the intoxicating connection between Fran (Myles), a successful and self-assured businesswoman, and Ria (Creevy), her shy, uncertain employee. Ria’s life has always been about survival, not ambition—until Fran enters the picture. Cleaning for Fran quickly turns into a deep emotional entanglement, as Ria begins to transform under Fran’s influence. But when Fran’s guidance leads to a life-altering event, the bond between the two women becomes a dangerous dance of secrets, betrayal, and blurred boundaries. What unfolds is a compelling cat-and-mouse game, one in which it’s never quite clear who is in control.
The newly released photos offer an early glimpse of the stark contrasts between the two women’s lives, hinting at the tensions simmering beneath the surface as their worlds collide and unravel.
The creative team behind the series is packed with talent. In addition to Barry, the executive producers include Davina Earl (The Red King), Nicola Shindler (After the Flood), Rebecca Ferguson, and Nick Andrews for the BBC. Ashley Way (Who Is Erin Carter?) will direct all four episodes and also serves as executive producer. Karen Lewis (Happy Valley) produces.
Produced with the support of the Welsh Government via Creative Wales, the series is distributed internationally by ITV Studios.
‘The Guest‘ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on BBC iPlayer, BBC One and BBC One Wales in the UK this Autumn.
