Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming UK acquisition series ‘The Assassin‘, a high-stakes action thriller starring Keeley Hawes (Scoop, Miss Austen) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor, Bates Motel). The six-part drama launches this July in the UK and Ireland and promises a gripping mix of espionage, family secrets, and relentless pursuit.
Created by Harry and Jack Williams (The Tourist, Boat Story), the trailer introduces viewers to Julie (Hawes), a former contract killer whose quiet life on a Greek island is upended when her past comes calling. Forced to flee with her estranged son Edward (Highmore), their escape sets off a tense and emotional journey across Europe, packed with danger and personal revelations.
As the trailer teases, the duo must navigate old wounds and deadly threats while staying one step ahead of those who want them dead. What begins as a flight for survival quickly becomes a mission to uncover a hidden conspiracy, with Julie determined to protect her son and finally confront the shadows of her past.
Alongside Hawes and Highmore, who also serve as executive producers, the cast includes Gina Gershon (Riverdale, New Amsterdam), Shalom Brune-Franklin (The Tourist, Baby Reindeer), Jack Davenport (The Morning Show, Pirates of the Caribbean), Alan Dale (Dynasty, Lost), Gerald Kyd (The Swarm, The Split), Devon Terrell (Totally Completely Fine, Cursed), Richard Dormer (Blue Lights, Game of Thrones), and David Dencik (The Ipcress File, No Time To Die).
The series is produced by Two Brothers Pictures in association with ZDF, Stan, and All3Media International. Directors Lisa Mulcahy and Daniel Nettheim lead the creative team, with writing contributions from Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve), Hamish Wright (Significant Other), and Selina Lim (Sex Education).
