Sky has unveiled a dazzling first look at Will Sharpe (Giri/Haji, The White Lotus) as musical prodigy Wolfgang ‘Amadeus’ Mozart, Paul Bettany (WandaVision, A Very British Scandal) as envious court composer Antonio Salieri, and Gabrielle Creevy (In My Skin, Black Doves) as Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife Constanze Weber, in the upcoming Sky Original limited series ‘Amadeus‘.
Based on Peter Shaffer’s award-winning stage play, and boldly adapted by Joe Barton (Black Doves, Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project), the five-part drama is described as “a symphony of genius, rivalry and vengeance.” It explores the meteoric rise and mythic downfall of Mozart, one of history’s most iconic composers and the rockstar virtuoso of the 18th century.

When 25-year-old Mozart arrives in Vienna, craving creative freedom, he finds both inspiration and turmoil in two figures: his fiercely loyal wife Constanze, and court composer Salieri, whose faith and reputation are shaken by Mozart’s divine brilliance. What begins as rivalry grows into a decades-spanning obsession, ending in murder confessions and a desperate attempt by Salieri to entwine himself with Mozart’s legacy forever.
The cast also includes Rory Kinnear (The Diplomat, Skyfall) as Emperor Joseph, Lucy Cohu (Becoming Jane) as Cecilia Weber, Jonathan Aris (The Sixth Commandment) as Leopold Mozart, Ényì Okoronkwo (Renegade Nell, The Lazarus Project) as Da Ponte, Jessica Alexander (The Little Mermaid) as Katerina, Hugh Sachs (Bridgerton) as Von Strack, Paul Bazely (Such Brave Girls) as Von Swieten, Rupert Vansittart (Game of Thrones) as Rosenberg, Anastasia Martin (In From The Cold) as Aloysia Weber, Nancy Farino (Masters of the Air) as Josepha Weber, Olivia-Mai Barrett (Invasion) as Sophie Weber, Viola Prettejohn (The Crown) as Princess Elizabeth and Jyuddah Jaymes (The Boys in The Boat, Hijack) as Franz Süssmayr.

Behind the camera, the series is produced by Two Cities Television (part of STV Studios) in association with Sky Studios. Executive producers include Megan Spanjian for Sky Studios, Michael Jackson (Patrick Melrose) and Stephen Wright (Blue Lights) for Two Cities Television, and John Griffin, with directing duties split between Julian Farino (Giri/Haji) and Alice Seabright (Chloe, Sex Education). Barton, Sharpe, Bettany and Farino also serve as executive producers.
