The Beatles Anthology Returns With Restored Docuseries, Expanded Music Collections, and Anniversary Book

by Dave Elliott

Disney+ and Apple Corps are bringing back one of the most definitive music documentaries ever made, as ‘The Beatles Anthology’ returns this autumn in its ultimate form. The release spans screen, vinyl, CD, digital, and even print, giving fans the most complete celebration of the Fab Four’s story yet.

The original eight-part series first aired three decades ago, breaking the mould for music documentaries by letting John, Paul, George, and Ringo tell their own tale. From Liverpool beginnings to Beatlemania, from counterculture highs to their emotional split, the story was as complex as it was groundbreaking. Now, not only has the entire series been restored and remastered, but it also features a brand-new ninth episode, debuting exclusively on Disney+.

A New Episode Nine

The fresh instalment includes never-before-seen footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr working together between 1994 and 1995 on the original project, while reflecting on their shared lives as The Beatles. Restoration has been overseen by Apple Corps with Peter Jackson’s Wingnut Films and Park Road Post, alongside Giles Martin, who has created new mixes for much of the music.

The Anthology Music Collections

The musical side of Anthology has also been given a major update. Originally curated by George Martin, the three double albums of rare tracks have now been remastered and joined by a brand-new Anthology 4. This fourth volume, put together by Giles Martin, includes 13 previously unreleased demos, session material, and fresh mixes of Beatles singles.

That includes the GRAMMY-winning “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love,” remixed with Jeff Lynne using de-mixed John Lennon vocals, and placed alongside the group’s final single “Now And Then” from 2023. Altogether, 191 tracks will be released on digital, 12LP vinyl, and 8CD box sets on Friday, 21st November 2025, complete with sleeve notes, exclusive art cards, and fresh insights from Beatles confidant Derek Taylor.

The Beatles Anthology Book

Finally, the 25th Anniversary Edition of The Beatles Anthology book will be published on Tuesday, 14th October 2025. At 368 pages, the volume features intimate recollections from John, Paul, George, and Ringo, accompanied by more than 1,300 photos, documents, and pieces of memorabilia from their archives.

With these three landmark releases converging, Anthology is set to introduce the Beatles’ story to yet another generation, while giving long-time fans an unprecedented new look at the legacy of the most influential band in history.

‘The Beatles Anthology’ Season 1 premieres Wednesday, 26th November 2025 on Disney+.
