PoE 2 Desecrated Items Guide – Abyssal Fissure Crafting

by Jason Smith

In Path of Exile 2, Desecrated items are standard items that you can craft using the Jawbone, Rib, Collarbone, and Cranium currencies, which drop from Abyssal Fissure monsters. You then toss these items into the Well of Souls. When you submit a Desecrated item into the Well, you get to choose one out of three randomly selected affixes to enhance your item, making it even stronger. This guide will walk you through the process of obtaining these items, step by step.

How To Obtain Abyssal Currencies

The Jawbone, Rib, and Collarbone are the unique currencies, like those of other PoE 2 Currencies: Chaos Orbs or Divine Orbs, for the Abyssal League and can be found in Abyssal Troves after you clear a fissure. They can also drop from the League-exclusive monsters that pop up from pits.

These currencies come in three different qualities:

  • Gnawed
  • Preserved
  • Ancient

Gnawed bones can only be used to Desecrate items that are level 64 or lower. Preserved bones have no item level restrictions, while Ancient bones ensure that your rolled Desecrated modifiers have a minimum level of 40 without any item level limits.

Unveiling A Desecrated Modifier

After you Desecrate an item, the modifier will be obscured by green glyphs. The only way to uncover them is to head to the Well of Souls in Act 2 and submit the weapon to select a modifier.

How To Reach The Well of Souls

When you’re in Act 2, stop the caravan at the northern section of the map. From there, navigate to the Mastodon Badlands. While you’re in the Mastodon Badlands, keep an eye out for the Lightless Passage dungeon. Try to avoid exiting the instance towards the Bone Pits. This dungeon is crawling with Abyssal monsters, so be prepared for a battle.

At the end of the Lightless Passage, you’ll find the Well of Souls. Luckily, there’s a Waypoint right next to the Well for easy access.
