The wonderfully chaotic Jessop family are heading back to BBC One, as ‘Here We Go’ has officially been commissioned for a fourth series, alongside a brand-new festive special set to air later this year.
Created by and starring Tom Basden (After Life), the family sitcom will once again bring together its brilliant ensemble cast, including Jim Howick (Ghosts), Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd), Alison Steadman (Gavin & Stacey), Freya Parks (This Town), Jude Morgan-Collie (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), Tori Allen-Martin (Unforgotten), Mica Ricketts (Best Interests), Ed Kear (The Batman), and Jon Furlong (The Last Kingdom).
The upcoming festive episode finds Rachel determined to throw a massive New Year’s Eve party, while Paul has other ideas… namely, a quiet retreat in a holiday cottage with a sauna to help him deal with an unfortunately timed boil on his cheek. Naturally, things spiral into typical Jessop-style mayhem, involving a road trip, a missing dummy, and a crate of unlicensed fireworks from a police auction.
Creator Tom Basden said: “The Jessops are like a second family to me, so I’m utterly delighted to be bringing Here We Go back on the BBC for a catastrophic New Year’s special, and I can’t wait to start work on series 4!”
Josh Cole, Chief Creative Officer for BBC Studios Comedy, added: “We’re so happy that Here We Go is returning for a fourth series and grateful for the BBC’s ongoing support.”
Jon Petrie, Director of BBC Comedy, praised the series’ success: “With its stellar cast and Tom Basden’s pin-sharp comic writing, Here We Go has pulled off something rare in a space that’s notoriously hard to crack. It continues to keep audiences chuckling, and the BBC is delighted to be bringing back more of the glorious Jessop family chaos.”
Series 3 of Here We Go saw a huge 70% uplift in iPlayer viewership compared to series two, with the audience among 16–34-year-olds doubling — proof that the Jessops’ relatable disasters have struck a chord with viewers.
Further details about Here We Go Series 4 will be revealed later. All previous episodes are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
