‘Spartacus: House Of Ashur’ Trailer Promises Blood, Betrayal And A Brutal New Era Of Roman Chaos

by Dave Elliott

Starz has dropped the first full trailer for Spartacus: House Of Ashur, teasing a gloriously violent return to Ancient Rome, with blood, sweat and scheming back on the menu.

The new ten-episode series, from returning creator Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil, Spartacus), imagines an alternate history in which the treacherous Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) survived the carnage of the original series. Now reborn as “Dominus”, he rules over his own gladiator house, wielding cunning and cruelty in equal measure as he claws his way up the Roman ladder of power.

The trailer shows off everything fans expect from the franchise: sweaty gladiators, thunderous crowds, and more arterial spray than a Tarantino marathon. There is also a blink-and-you ’ll-miss-it shot of Liam McIntyre (Spartacus: Vengeance) briefly appearing as Spartacus… although it is short-lived, as Ashur is shown impaling him with a spear…

Joining Tarabay are Tenika Davis (Jupiter’s Legacy), Jamaica Vaughan (Home and Away), Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth), Jordi Webber (Choose Love), Claudia Black (Ahsoka), India Shaw-Smith, and Leigh Gill (Joker). DeKnight returns as showrunner alongside executive producers Rick Jacobson (Ash vs Evil Dead) and Aaron Helbing (The Flash).

If that is not enough carnage, Starz has also released a Red Band trailer for those who prefer their Roman drama extra bloody and NSFW. You can watch that version on YouTube here.

Fans who want to revisit the original saga before the new series arrives can catch Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Gods of the Arena, Vengeance and War of the Damned now streaming on Netflix UK. In the USA, you can catch up on the series via the Starz app.

Spartacus: House Of Ashur’ Season 1 premieres Friday, 5th December 2025 on STARZ in the US, and Saturday, 6th December 2025 with a two-episode launch on MGM+ UK, followed by weekly episodes.
