‘Alien: Earth’ Renewed for Season 2 as Noah Hawley Signs New Deal with FX and Disney

by Dave Elliott

FX has officially renewed the global sci-fi hit Alien: Earth for a second season, with creator Noah Hawley extending his creative partnership through a new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television.

The acclaimed first season, which reimagined Ridley Scott’s legendary Alien franchise for television, became a worldwide phenomenon when it debuted earlier this year on FX and Hulu in the US, and on Disney+ internationally. Season two is set to begin filming in London next year.

Hawley, best known for his work on Fargo and Legion, earned widespread praise for bringing a cinematic, character-driven edge to the terrifying universe of Alien. The series currently boasts a 94% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic Must-Watch score of 85, confirming it as one of 2025’s biggest critical hits.

FX Chairman John Landgraf said:

“It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future. Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories, and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary.”

Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy, added:

“I learned first-hand that Noah was a unique talent while we worked on Fargo at FX. He has gone on to make many of the best shows in television, and I couldn’t be more excited that Noah will continue his FX partnership and broaden it across Disney Entertainment Television.”

Speaking on the renewal and his new deal, Hawley said:

“FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the very beginning with Fargo, they’ve encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter.”

Season one starred Sydney Chandler (Pistol) as Wendy, alongside Alex Lawther (The End of the F**ing World*), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Essie Davis (The Babadook), Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror), Babou Ceesay (Wolfe), David Rysdahl (Oppenheimer), Adrian Edmondson (The Young Ones), Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger), Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.

The series is produced by FX Productions, with Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Macer, John Campisi, and Simon Emanuel also serving as executive producers.

‘Alien: Earth’ Season 2 will air on FX and Hulu in the US, and on Disney+ internationally.
