After a wait that has felt longer than a round trip to Mars, ‘For All Mankind’ is officially back on the launch pad. Apple TV has revealed a first look and confirmed the return date for the acclaimed alt-history space drama’s fifth season, ending the long silence since season four wrapped back in November 2023.
The new season picks up in the years following the Goldilocks asteroid heist, with Happy Valley now transformed into a bustling Martian colony home to thousands of residents. What was once a frontier outpost has become a key base for missions pushing deeper into the solar system. However, with Earth’s nations now demanding law and order on Mars, tensions continue to simmer between the settlers and the planet they left behind.
The returning ensemble cast includes Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña and Wrenn Schmidt. They are joined by several new series regulars, including Mireille Enos (The Killing, Hanna), Costa Ronin (The Americans, Homeland), Sean Kaufman (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Ruby Cruz (Bottoms) and Ines Asserson (Royalteen).
Season five continues the show’s tradition of big time jumps and even bigger ideas. Season four ended with a leap forward to 2012, placing the Goldilocks asteroid into orbit around Mars and setting the stage for a new era of political and social conflict in space. The upcoming season leans into that shift, exploring what happens when Mars stops being a dream and starts becoming a society.
The series is created by Ronald D. Moore, with Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi serving as showrunners and executive producers. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Apple TV. All four previous seasons are currently available to stream.
‘For All Mankind’ Season 5 premieres Friday, 27th March 2026 on Apple TV.
