Netflix has released the official trailer for ‘The Night Agent’ Season 3, teasing a globe-spanning conspiracy that drags Peter Sutherland even deeper into the shadows. The political thriller returns to Netflix this February, with the stakes higher, the enemies deadlier, and the truth more dangerous than ever.
Season 3 picks up in the fallout from last year’s explosive finale. Peter Sutherland, once again played by Gabriel Basso, is sent to track down a young Treasury agent who has fled to Istanbul after killing his boss and stealing sensitive government intelligence. What begins as a manhunt quickly spirals into something far larger, pulling Peter into a dark money network, a web of paid assassins, and an uneasy alliance with a relentless journalist determined to expose the truth.
That partnership sits at the heart of the new season, as Peter and the reporter uncover buried secrets and long-simmering grudges that threaten to bring the US government to its knees. Unfortunately, uncovering the truth also paints a massive target on both their backs.
Basso described a shift in Peter’s mindset this year:
“I think now that Peter isn’t having to balance his personal life and work life, he’s become more ‘monomaniacal’. Whether that’s a defense mechanism or whether it’s for the better, I guess it’s up to the viewer to decide. As for me, I enjoyed being able to fully commit to a capable and more focused version of Peter.”
Behind the scenes, the series continues under the guidance of creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan, whose pedigree includes The Shield and S.W.A.T.. Season 3 is directed across ten episodes by Guy Ferland, Adam Arkin, Paris Barclay, Hiromi Kamata and Billy Gierhart, with scripts from a rotating team that includes Munis Rashid, Seth Fisher and Anayat Fakhraie.
The returning cast includes Louis Herthum, Stephen Moyer, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Jennifer Morrison, Albert Jones, Ward Horton and Genesis Rodriguez.
