‘Bergerac‘ is finally heading back to U&DRAMA this April, as the revived Jersey-set crime drama returns with a brand new case for Jim Bergerac that looks set to push him harder than ever.
The second season opens with Bergerac being pulled into what may be the most challenging investigation of his career after shocking events unfold at a wedding reception on the island. What should have been a joyful celebration quickly turns into a murder inquiry, once again placing Jersey’s troubled detective at the centre of a dark and deeply personal mystery.
Damien Molony (Crashing, Brassic) returns as Jim Bergerac, who is trying to move forward with his life following the loss of his wife. Encouraged by his daughter Kim, played by Chloé Sweetlove, he has cautiously stepped back into the dating world, although more out of obligation than optimism. That begins to shift when he meets Nicola, a visitor to Jersey played by Camilla Beeput (Save Me, Grantchester), and the pair strike up an immediate connection.
There is romance elsewhere too, with Bergerac’s formidable mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford finding herself unexpectedly drawn to Nigel, played by Adrian Edmondson (Bottom, Rain Dogs). Zoë Wanamaker (My Family, Doctor Who) returns as Charlie, bringing more sharp wit and steel to the family dynamic.
Of course, any hope of calm is short-lived. On the same night Bergerac meets Nicola, the groom at a wedding reception is discovered murdered in his hotel room, kicking off a major new investigation. With cryptic final words possibly holding the key to the killer’s identity, Bergerac must piece together the truth before the case slips out of reach.
Also returning for the new run are Lesley Sharp (Before We Die, Scott & Bailey), Charles Dale (Casualty, Coronation Street), Turlough Convery (Killing Eve, Sanditon), Georgina Rich (The New Statesman, Shetland) and Jonathan Aris (Sherlock, His Dark Materials).
With the first season helping reintroduce the iconic detective for a new audience, the second chapter looks set to deliver more of the moody island atmosphere, emotional character drama and knotty crime storytelling that made the revival such a strong return.
‘Bergerac‘ Season 2 premieres Thursday, 16th April 2026 at 9pm on U&DRAMA.
