Channel 4 Brings ‘TFI Friday Unplugged’ Home This April

‘TFI Friday’ is heading back to Channel 4, with the broadcaster picking up six episodes of Virgin Radio UK’s YouTube series TFI Friday Unplugged, fronted by Chris Evans. That means the iconic entertainment brand is returning to its original home, albeit in a slightly different form, with a more stripped-back format built for both linear and on-demand viewing.

The revived version keeps the spirit of the original while shifting into a more intimate setup. Channel 4 says the series still carries the DNA that made ‘TFI Friday’ such a huge part of 1990s British TV, mixing music, chat and a bit of unpredictability, but reworked for modern audiences across broadcast, streaming and YouTube.

The first episode airing on Channel 4 features a fairly packed line-up too, with Sam Ryder, Shreya Ghoshal, Jack Savoretti, Sindhu Vee, Gemma Arterton (Funny Woman), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) and Cush Jumbo (Criminal Record) all set to appear.

Channel 4’s Cimran Shah said: “TFI Friday was doing stripped-back, personality-led chat long before visualised-podcasts were a twinkle in our eyes! I’m thrilled that this deal brings TFI back to Channel 4, reimagined in a way that feels fresh, immediate and perfectly suited for a new generation wherever they watch Channel 4.”

Dennie Morris, Director of Audio, News Broadcasting, News UK said: “TFI Friday is one of those rare formats that never really left the cultural conversation, and we’re proud to see this iconic title – and the genius of Chris Evans – find its way back to Channel 4 reimagined through Virgin Radio UK’s TFI Unplugged. We look forward to audiences rediscovering what made the show so special, wherever and however they choose to watch.”

The original ‘TFI Friday’ became one of the defining British entertainment shows of the 1990s, known for its live music performances, chaotic energy and irreverent interviews. So while ‘TFI Friday Unplugged’ is clearly a leaner version of that format, there is a certain neat symmetry in seeing it land back on Channel 4 nearly three decades later.

TFI Friday Unplugged’ premieres Friday, 17th April 2026 on Channel 4.
