CBS Picks up “Twilight”… *coughAngelcough*…

Variety is reporting CBS has picked up a show called ‘Twilight’… The synopsis… “a drama about a vampire/private eye who’s dealing with the fallout from being immortal, his foes in the vampire world and a budding love for a mortal.”…
Ermm… yeh… wait a moment… that sounds awfully like superb Joss Whedon show that the WB (/spit) cancelled 2 years ago that was about a Vampire private eye who was struggling with being immortal and love of a mortal…
Man, I hate the US network system…
LucasArts, get to work you slackers!
This is a kinda “If only…” video. The Star Wars demo has been circling the web for a while, but i think this version really helps hammer home how awesomely cool a Star Wars game on the Wii would be! With any luck someone at LucasArts is taking notice…
Seth Schiesel on ‘Conquering the Burning Crusade’

Seth Schiesel over at the New York Times is running a very interesting column about his adventures through World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, life after 70, and general travelogue of his life in WoW.
Oscars 2007, My Predictions

Best picture
Babel; The Departed; Letters From Iwo Jima; Little Miss Sunshine; The Queen
I’m going for The Departed on this one… Not only cause it’s a great film, but also cause i think the academy members probably still feel guilty for voting Dances with Wolves over Goodfellas…
Best director
Clint Eastwood, Letters From Iwo Jima; Stephen Frears, The Queen; Paul Greengrass, United 93; Alejandro; Gonzales Inarritu, Babel; Martin Scorsese, The Departed
Humm… Greengrass maybe, although i’d say Scorsese could scoop this too (about time!)
Best actor
Leonardo DiCaprio, Blood Diamond; Ryan Gosling, Half Nelson; Peter O’Toole, Venus; Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness; Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland
Think this is a battle between DiCaprio, Whitaker and O’Toole… Going for O’Toole based on a great performance, and with him being the age his is (sorry Peter!), i think that should swing it. Have to say though, i think Whitaker would deserve it any other year.
Best actress
Penelope Cruz, Volver; Judi Dench, Notes on a Scandal; Helen Mirren, The Queen; Meryl Streep, The Devil Wears Prada; Kate Winslet, Little Children;
I’d say Helen Mirren has this in the bag. I can’t see The Queen winning best picture, so i think this is probably where ‘The Queen’ oscar will go.
Best supporting actress
Adriana Barraza, Babel; Cate Blanchett, Notes on a Scandal; Abigail Breslin, Little Miss Sunshine; Jennifer Hudson, Dreamgirls; Rinko Kikucki, Babel;
Tough, but i reckon Jennifer Hudson will take it.
Best supporting actor
Alan Arkin, Little Miss Sunshine; Jackie Earle Haley, Little Children; Djimon Hounsou, Blood Diamond; Eddie Murphy, Dreamgirls; Mark Wahlberg, The Departed
Humm… Wahlberg, Murphy or Hounsou i reckon… going for Hounsou.
Best animated feature film
Cars; Happy Feet; Monster House
Will they vote against Pixar?.. Yes, i think they might. Going for Happy Feet.
Best adapted screenplay
Borat; Children of Men; The Departed; Little Children; Notes on a Scandal
I would love Borat to get this… Sasha winning an oscar for Borat would be high comedy! Think Children of Men is probably the more worthy winner though.
Best original screenplay
Babel; Letters from Iwo Jima; Little Miss Sunshine; The Queen; Pan’s Labyrinth
Sticking my neck out and going for Pan’s Labyrinth over The Queen.

So those are my predictions for some of the main oscars. What are yours?
