KotOR MMORPG

Okay, this is a rumour that’s been around ever since Bioware announced they were getting into the MMO business. However, it’s recently resurfaced and is rampaging through the gaming community like a stampeding Bantha.

The question is of course:

Are Bioware making a Knights of the Old Republic MMORPG?

The latest rumour to stoke the KotOR MMO fire is a press release from LucasArts today claiming “LucasArts and BioWare Corp. to Create Ground-Breaking Interactive Entertainment Product”. The game “…will push the boundaries of the gaming market by utilizing the strengths of both companies to deliver an innovative, high-quality experience.”

Well, that has to be a KotOR game, surely. They’d have to be idiots for it not to be! With all the hype at the moment, i mean, come on?! Look at it this way. We know Bioware are making an MMO. We know they are making a game for LucasArts that “will push the boundaries of the gaming market” (and that doesn’t sound like a straight RPG to me). Plus, what other license is it likely to be if it’s not KotOR? They already have quite a cool looking Indy game in development to coincide with the Indy 4 release. Monkey Island? Great as some of those games were, seems rather unlikely… ;)

Star Wars seems the most likely license. Plus, thanks to the appalling management of SOE, their current Star Wars MMO (Star Wars Galaxies) has been on it’s last legs for a long time now.

EA (who recently bought Bioware) want in on the MMO market, and don’t seem to like it when companies they own spread themselves too thinly. Would EA be happy about them creating an MMO and a separate game for LucasArts?

Plus, you have to add in all the rumours there have been, and all the hype and positive reaction to the idea of a KotOR MMO.

All i’ll say is this…

Bioware/LucasArts – If your aren’t making a KotOR MMO, you flamin well should be! ;)

Steam

Along with Tabula Rasa, the other games to be occupying Geektown’s time over the last couple of weeks has been Valve’s Orange Box. Having played through the truly excellent Portal, i then moved on to the awesomeness of Team Fortress 2.

A few hours running round with a sniper rifle and setting people alight with a flamethrower inspired me to set up a Geektown Steam group.

If you’d like to join us, head on over to the Geektown Steam Community page and sign up!

Tabula Rasa

Just a update on Geektown’s latest MMORPG addiction. Tabula Rasa landed it’s dropships for the people who pre-ordered today. Both D have been beta testing this MMORPG (with more than a hint of FPS thrown in) for the last couple of months, and where impressed enough to move onto it now it’s (nearly) live.

If your playing, or planning on play, drop us an email or leave a comment, and maybe we can team up and slaughter Thrax! :D

Click here for more info on Tabula Rasa.

I don’t have an XBox, so i don’t play Halo 3. However, have to say i’m very impressed with the control you can get over the camera in the replays. Makes for awesome videos like this one!

I was sent a link to the new website for Artois, and i have to say they’ve done a really nice job with it. Really reminds me of the CD Roms I used to design before this new fangled internet thingy took off. ;) There’s even a trailer for it:

Well worth a look:
