This should have happened years ago. This way the prize money can be bigger and Ru can have more control. Plus I think Ru has made this move because of All Stars. BBC didn’t want to do an All Stars.
Harlen Coben’s The Woods, Netflix’s English-language UK adaptation (there’s already a polish language one) is set to premier in 2027. There is no official release date as of yet but based on tradition I think we could safely assume a tentative January 1 2027 release.. but again that’s just a safe and widely accepted assumption.

Channel 4’s upcoming six-part legal drama Pierre, starring David Harewood, has a special preview screening of episode one followed by a Q&A set for September 15, 2026.
Based on my understanding of standard UK television broadcasting practices, I expect Pierre to premiere on Channel 4 roughly two to four weeks after its preview screening, targeting early to mid October 2026.

Neat! I read yesterday that Ridley Scott is working on a large scale theatrical film “Treasure Island”. He will direct and its being written by Jack Thorne (Adolescence). He said that it will be the most expensive of his career and is hoping to have Hugh Jackman and Hugh Grant in the cast.
The Center Seat II: 60 Years of Star Trek is now available on Apple TV, as is season 1. It covers the Next Generation and JJ Abrams movies.

What is the chances of that happening here on Paramount+ considering there was only 6 month difference in original air dates.
I suppose it depends what the exclusivity window is , maybe keep an eye to see if starts airing on Sky Mix like they did with season 1 from January to June this year.

Could be a case of like you said that Sky only got the rights for seasons 3 and 4? Which brings the question to season 5, if that will be on Sky or Paramount.
Very similar to how 9-1-1 operated, took a couple of seasons before moving from Sky to Disney after the Fox merger.
They still have the rights to season 1 and 2 until January and June 2028 but whether these are exclusive is another matter

I’m more interested in why a Sunday ? The problem I’ve got is if Paramount+ are planning to only show 1 episode a week then I might as well start watching Fire Country season 4 at the same time because I haven’t yet because of the crossover. Other annoying factor is there’s gonna be another crossover and we’re already a year behind so I think the best move would be fur Sky to do a deal and let Paramount+ have the first to air rights of Fire Country.

I’d prefer season 1 is added, in full, then weekly for season 2 next month even though it won’t line up with Fire Country Season 5.
Season 5 of Fire Country is only 13 episodes rather than 20 episodes.

Has that date been confirmed? There was a report in yesterday’s Sun stating that it was incorrect, and that the actual date was later in September or even into October.
Season 29 of South Park comes to Comedy Central and Paramount+ UK on September 17/18.
One new episode will drop every two weeks, and there will be six episodes in total.
If that’s the case then it’s an improvement compared to previous seasons when it was the Thursday on Comedy Central and the Friday for Paramount.
Paramount+ doesn’t appear to know for sure haha.

I have discovered ‘The Oval’ on Paramount +; 7 seasons to binge watch, followed by 6 seasons of the spinoff, ‘Ruthless’. OK, the plot is somewhat over the top, with more than its fair share of random dead bodies – but ‘shameless’ as I am, I am hooked by this over the top, ridiculous parody of life in the White House.
Madem secretary is on channel 5 if your into white house stuff and west wing is on channel 4 in case you not seen them
The Diplomat on Netflix is also a fantastic White House-adjacent series. Really darkly funny.
If you’ve not watched A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, season 1 is on Netflix UK in 4K/Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos. I’ve started watching season 1 and it’s rather good.

The Good Daughter, adaptation of the book by Karin Slaughter premieres on Peacock in the US on 12th November. Don’t know about the Sky Atlantic release date yet, hopefully not long, as it’s a brilliant book.

Series is the entire show. Season 2 is what this is as a season is a part of the show.
That’s just Americanisation. It always used to be ‘series’ in the U.K. and ‘season’ in the USA. Some people just stick to the original terms

That’s just incorrect. There has to be a term for the entire show. For example, S.W.A.T. There are 8 seasons of this series. You cannot call the complete show a season. You have to call it a series.
The first TV series was broadcast in the US. So the names were named in the US before the UK. In this case, it’s the UK changing things incorrectly.
Series 2 is only 6 Episodes and few specials in the new year.
I do tend to use “series” for UK shows and “season” for US shows. Only because people will too much time on their hands complain on social media… I do actually think the “American” way makes far more sense and is less confusing though. :)

Indeed. Usually appears after a new series of Patience in January. And after last season’s cliffhanger, I can hardly wait.
Incidentally, the French name for the series is Astrid et Raphaëlle. I do wonder if Astrid in Paris is hanging on the coattails of Emily in Paris.
My mistake. The UK title is Astrid: Murder in Paris.
Apart from the occasional popular exception like Lupin I don’t think Geektown covers many foreign language shows unless people specifically request them. Probably because there are so many – and so much new TV in general – these days. I’m part of a website that does a monthly list (& calendar) of UK releases for world dramas (anything not British or American). There are 35 on the list for this month so far alone – with updates to come. April & May have been the peak months so far with 50 shows each. I counted 63 foreign language shows available on HBO Max when that launched here.

Just had email from paramount plus. Saying sheriff country (fire country spinoff) is streaming from September 13th and Boston blue (blue bloods spinoff) streaming from September 24th

In that case season 23 of NCIS must be most likely Paramount+ then, since that didn’t turn up on Disney+

I’ve just received the same email and I am gobsmacked they aren’t on Sky. Though I’m not complaining since they are terrible at handling any show with 10+ episodes these days.
Granted it doesn’t say how many episodes. As it says the same with Mobland and we know that’s usually a weekly drop.

Another nail in skys coffin the end of sky as a acquisition in shows apart from live sports not far away
Perhaps the reshuffling earlier in the year for Paramount has put more of a focus on the service itself than constantly licensing out shows on a first run basis?

Speaking of Sky, they have to accept now and fully utilise NBC shows as there is a wealth of content available and more so on boxsets which Sky lacks badly on.

All very promising stuff from Paramount. More so since not long ago they were almost guaranteed to land on Sky. Good to see this and hopefully a more Disney+ approach to its on shows.

Must be question marks about whether the shortened season 5 of Fire Country premieres on Sky, a possibility season 3 and 4 were acquired together at the time from the previous management.

Depends on the contract. Broadcasters sometimes (not always) get a first refusal clause for new seasons, even if they haven’t picked up future seasons yet. However, Paramount could force up the price, making it unviable for Sky. We’ll have to wait and see.

I think this was a mistake? It didn’t show up, and the coming September 1st message is gone.
i did think it was strange considering Netflix always drops it as a boxset, it might’ve been a placeholder and we’ll get it in October after its aired in the US
JustWatch.com is showing it as coming to Disney+ on 20th October. I believe Martin_E previously mentioned that Disney is the main distributor internationally (apart from UK).
Netflix isn’t the distributor in the UK, it’s licenced from Disney , which i suspect is a old licensing agreement since it’s unavailable on the ad tier,

It could be an error, but it’s definitely showing on their UK page. It’s referring to seasons 1 – 17, it doesn’t have any details on 18, for either Netflix or Disney, but the date ties in with the completion of broadcast of 18 in the US.
