Just as first season of ‘that Amazon car show’ comes to a close this weekend, the canny BBC dropped a trailer for Top Gear: Series 24, featuring Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid talking to the BBC Insurance Dept risk assessor about the new series… And it’s really rather good!
As fans of the series know, Chris Evans resigned after the somewhat lackluster response to series 23, leaving Matt LeBlanc to lead the team into the next show. Chris Harris and Rory Reid will serve as the main co-presenters going forward. And of course, The Stig is back too!
The new season features LeBlanc evading the Montenegro police in an Aston Martin DB11, Harris drifting the new Ferrari FXX K in Daytona, Reid crashing his Taxi in Kazakhstan, and LeBlanc in his Russian-built Avtoros Shaman coming to the rescue of a group of naked ramblers on the Isle of Man.
Unlike when the previous cast was announced, this lineup feels right to me. LeBlanc, Harris & Reid were, by far, the stand out performances in the last season, so I’m looking forward to seeing how well this works.
Top Gear returns for Series 24 in Spring 2017.
