Netflix Announces New Ryan Murphy Series ‘The Politician’ To Premiere In September

Netflix has set a September premiere date for Ryan Murphy’s new series The Politician, along with releasing a little more info about the show.

The dark comedy follows Payton Hobart, a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, has known since age seven that he’s going to be President of the United States. But first he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School. To get elected Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image. Full of dark comedy and sly satire, the series offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.

Ben Platt (‘Pitch Perfect’) takes the lead as Hobart, and is surrounded by a host of talent including Gwyneth Paltrow (‘Iron-Man’), Jessica Lange (‘American Horror Story’), Zoey Deutch (‘The Disaster Artist’), Lucy Boynton (‘Bohemian Rhapsody’), Bob Balaban (‘Broad City’, ‘Pitch’), David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer (‘Moe & Jerryweather’), Laura Dreyfuss (‘Glee’), Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Benjamin Barrett.

Ryan Murphy is, of course, the man behind ‘American Horror Story’, ‘Pose’, ‘American Crime Story’, ‘9-1-1’, ‘Feud’, ‘Glee’ and many many other series. He serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer, alongside frequent collaborators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan who also write and exec produce.

The Politician‘ Season 1 premieres Friday, 27th September 2019 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
