Apple has released a new trailer for Ronald D. Moore’s upcoming alt-history space drama For All Mankind, which premieres with the launch of the Apple TV+ streaming service on Friday, 1st November.

From Ronald D. Moore, the man behind ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and ‘Outlander’‘For All Mankind’ imagines what would have happened if the global space race never ended and the space program remained the cultural centrepiece of America’s hopes and dreams. Set in an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves in the centre of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate history timeline – a world in which the USSR beats the U.S. to the moon.

Joel Kinnaman (‘The Killing’, ‘Altered Carbon’) leads the cast alongside Michael Dorman (‘Patriot’), Sarah Jones (‘The Path’), Shantel VanSanten (‘Shooter’), Wrenn Schmidt (‘Outcast’) and Jodi Balfour (‘Quarry’).

Whilst Season 1 kicks off in the ’60s and ’70s, if it does go on to more seasons (which seems likely), it will continue to move forward in this alt-history. This single event could set off a chain reaction which totally changes how our history develops through to present day and beyond.

The series is created and written by Moore, with Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi (‘The Umbrella Academy’, ‘Fargo’). Sony Pictures Television and Tall Ship Productions serve as the production companies.

For those of you wondering how to get Apple TV+, from 1st November, the service will be available on the Apple TV app via iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, and online at tv.apple.com across 100 countries and regions, including the UK. It will also be coming to select Samsung, Sony, LG and Vizio smart TVs, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, although they aren’t all going to be available for the launch. The service costs £4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial, but if you happen to be in the market for one of the Apple products listed above, you get will get 12 months of Apple TV+ for free.

For All Mankind‘ Season 1 premieres Friday, 1st November 2019 on Apple TV+.
