Entertainment Film Distributors have released a new trailer for Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’, which arrives in UK cinemas on Wednesday, 1st January 2020, and sees the director head back to his brit-crime, action-comedy, roots.

‘The Gentlemen’ follows American expat Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) who built a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When word gets out that he’s looking to cash out of the business forever it triggers plots, schemes, bribery and blackmail in an attempt to steal his domain out from under him.

Alongside McConaughey, the film stars Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, and Hugh Grant, in a very different role to anything you’ve seen him in before!

This is the first time in a while Guy Ritchie has gone back to the genre which made him famous, with films such as ‘Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels‘, ‘Snatch’, ‘Revolver’ and ‘Rocknrolla’. Since then, he has been on a bit of a creative detour, directing the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ films, ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’, ‘King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’ and most recently, Disney’s live-action ‘Aladdin’. ‘The Gentlemen‘ seems to have its feet firmly back in the genre that put him on the map, which is somewhat appropriate, given 2020 is also the 20th anniversary of the release of ‘Snatch’… Yes, you are that old!

‘The Gentlemen’ premieres in UK and Irish cinemas on Wednesday 1st January 2020.
