E4 Sets March UK Premiere Date For Musical Dramedy ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’

Musical dramedy series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will premiere in March 2020 on E4 the UK broadcaster has announced.

‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ stars Jane Levy (‘Suburgatory’) as Zoey Clarke, a whip-smart computer coder forging her way in San Francisco. After an unusual event, she starts to hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through songs. At first, she questions her own sanity but soon realises this unwanted curse may just be an incredibly wonderful gift (which also gives them an excuse for big musical numbers!)

“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will make you laugh, make you cry and make you sing,” commented Karl Warner, Controller of E4. “It’s a brilliant piece of uplifting television that we’re thrilled to have coming to E4.”

Alongside Levy, the series stars Skylar Astin (‘Pitch Perfect’), Alex Newell (‘Glee’), John Clarence Stewart (‘What/If’), Golden Globe winner Peter Gallagher (‘The O.C.’) and Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen (‘The Last Man on Earth’) along with special guest star Lauren Graham (‘Gilmore Girls’).

The series is produced by Lionsgate and Universal Television in association with the Tannenbaum Company, Feigco Entertainment and Universal Music Group.

“We’re delighted to partner with E4 in bringing our beloved drama to the UK,” adds Agapy Kapouranis, Lionsgate’s President of International Television & Digital Distribution. “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is a joyful, smart and empowering drama unlike anything else on television. The series grapples with important themes of empathy and human connection that I’m sure will strike a chord with audiences.”

The series is written and executive produced by Austin Winsberg (‘Jake In Progress’), alongside executive producers Paul Feig (Lionsgate’s ‘A Simple Favor’, ‘Bridesmaids’) via Feigco Entertainment, Jessie Henderson, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (‘Two and a Half Men’) via The Tannenbaum Company, and Polygram’s David Blackman (‘Flatliners’) and Daniel Inkeles (‘It’s Complicated’). Emmy award-winning Richard Shepard (‘Ugly Betty’) directed and executive produced the pilot. Lionsgate has worldwide rights.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist‘ Season 1 premieres Wednesday, 4th March 2020 at 10pm on E4 in the UK.
