‘The Goldbergs’ Renewed For Season 10
‘The Goldbergs‘ will be back once again as ABC announces the long-running comedy has been renewed for Season 10.
‘The Goldbergs’ follows the titular family’s escapades in 1980s Pennsylvania. Narrator Adam (Sean Giambrone, with his future self voiced by Patton Oswald) just wants to grow up as a normal, nerdy teenager – and possibly become the world’s greatest filmmaker. That looks pretty unlikely when he’s constantly battling his own family: there’s his smothering but well-meaning mother Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey – ‘Bridesmaids’), his hot-tempered dad Murray (Jeff Garlin – ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’), rebellious and musical sister Erica (Hayley Orrantia), and emotional and idiotic brother Barry (Troy Gentile). While the Goldbergs might not always see eye to eye, in this sweet-natured comedy family always comes first.
One character who will be missing from the new season is Jeff Garlin’s Murray. The actor left the show in December 2021 following an investigation spawned from various complaints about his on-set behaviour. Sony Pictures Television, who co-produces the show, came to a mutual agreement with Garlin that he would leave. The rest of season nine was completed using a mix of stand-ins and camera trickery to cover the missing character, but he is expected to be properly written out in season ten. The comedy already lost George Segal (who played Pops) last year after the 87yr old actor passed away following complications with heart bypass surgery.
Adam F. Goldberg, Doug Robinson, Alex Barnow, Chris Bishop, Annette Davis, Mike Sikowitz, Bill Callahan, David Guarascio and Annie Mebane are executive producers. ‘The Goldbergs’ is produced by Happy Madison, Doug Robinson Productions and Adam F. Goldberg Productions, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
‘The Goldbergs‘ Season 9 gets its UK premiere on Sunday, 24th April 2022 at 7pm on E4 with a double-bill.
