TV Premieres Coming To The UK On Sky & NOW In June 2022

June is already looking to be a packed month of content across the UK television landscape, and Sky are adding even more premieres to the list with new and returning tv series. Here is a breakdown of the premieres coming to various Sky channels next month.

Drama & Comedy

The Midwich Cuckoos – Sky Max – Friday, 3rd June 2022

Midwich, a small English commuter town, is liberal and aspirational, populated by nuclear families and affluent high streets. A place where nothing much happens – and for a very good reason. That is until the twilight hours of a summer’s day when a sleepy corner of Midwich is plunged into panic. People pass out on their feet without warning, without reason. Anyone who tries to enter meets the same fate. And nobody can understand why. When the mysterious blackout is lifted, life for those affected returns to apparent normality – except every woman of child-bearing age inside the zone has suddenly and inexplicably fallen pregnant.

As news spreads and tensions simmer, it is up to gifted psychotherapist Dr Susannah Zellaby (Keeley Hawes) to help support those affected through the emotional wilderness. Susannah’s own daughter, Cassie (Synnøve Karlsen – ‘Last Night In Soho’, ‘Clique’), has fallen pregnant and harbours deep concerns about who, or what, is behind this phenomenon.

Local officer DCI Paul Kirby (Max Beesley) is tasked with maintaining order but unbeknownst to them all, a terrifying force is building in the comfortable streets of Midwich. These children – potential parasites – flourish under the very love and care that their families give them. Who are these children? And what do they want?

Alongside Hawes, Beesley, Karlsen, the series also stars Aisling Loftus (‘A Discovery of Witches’), Ukweli Roach (‘Blindspot’), Lara Rossi (‘Robin Hood’), Lewis Reeves (‘I May Destroy You’), Rebekah Staton (‘Raised by Wolves’) and Anneika Rose (‘Line of Duty’).

We Own This City – Sky Atlantic – June 2022

Based on the documentary series of the same name, Executive produced by George Pelecanos (The Deuce) and David Simon (The Wire) – and based on the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton – We Own This City is a six-hour, limited series chronicling the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force. It examines the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city in which the policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest were championed at the expense of actual police work. Starring Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Show Me a Hero), Josh Charles (The Good Wife, In Treatment), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country), and Jamie Hector (BOSCH, The Wire).

Blocco 181 – Sky Atlantic – 22nd June 2022

Set in the multi-ethnic communities on the outskirts of Milan and co-developed with multi-platinum musician and rapper Salmo in his first television project, Block 181 is a story of love, generational conflicts, female emancipation and, above all, power struggles. Take a look at modern-day Milan through new eyes and re-examine what it means to live in a globalized world where extremes co-exist.

Westworld, Season 4 – Sky Atlantic – June 2022

The Emmy-winning drama series Westworld continues its dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the birth of a new form of life on Earth.

Now that Shaun has called off the wedding, he is forced to confront Lea about their relationship and determine what he really means to her.

Blue Bloods, Season 12 – Sky Witness – June 2022

The long-running, and recently renewed, cop drama returns to Sky Witness for its twelfth season. This time around, Danny consults a psychic to solve the murder of a young boy, and Frank is at odds with the mayor over how best to protect the city from an uptick in crime following a high-profile shooting. Also, Erin investigates a decades-old case in which the primary eyewitness to the killing is her boss, DA Kimberly Crawford, who was 13 years old at the time

Girls5Eva, Season 2 – Peacock – June 2022

Back for a second season… but you can call it a comeback. Girls5Eva are back having successfully reunited on stage and landing a record deal. Now Dawn, Wickie, Summer and Gloria will discover how much they’re willing to sacrifice for the opportunity.
