‘Outer Banks’ Season 3 Gets A Trailer, Premiering February On Netflix

by Dave Elliott

“The Pogues” are back as Netflix releases the trailer for the really fun teen drama Outer Banks’ Season 3, which premieres later this February on the streaming service.

‘Outer Banks’ is a coming-of-age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (the “Pogues”) in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Season 1 saw a hurricane kill the power for the summer season, but that event set off a chain of illicit activities that force the friends to make life-altering decisions. The search for their ringleader’s missing father, forbidden romances, a high-stakes treasure hunt, and the escalating conflict between the Pogues and their rivals turned their summer into one filled with mystery and adventure they’ll never forget.

After losing the gold and fleeing the Outer Banks, Season 3 finds the Pogues washed ashore on a desert island that, for a brief moment, seems like an idyllic home. Officially deemed “Poguelandia,” the island’s newest residents spend their days fishing, swimming, and revelling in the carefree lifestyle of their temporary dwelling. But things quickly go south for John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo when they find themselves once again caught up in a race for the treasure, quite literally running for their lives. They’re broke and far from home, they can’t trust anyone, Ward and Rafe are hungry for revenge, and there’s a ruthless Caribbean Don who will stop at nothing to find the bounty. Was the treasure ever within their reach? Or was it all a trap to stop them once and for all? Either way, it’s the Pogues against the world – and the only way out is together.

The Season 3 cast includes Chase Stokes (John B.), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe), Carlacia Grant (Cleo) and Charles Esten (Ward Cameron) with Cullen Moss (Shoupe), Julia Antonelli (Wheezie Cameron), Caroline Arapoglou (Rose Cameron), E. Roger Mitchell (Heyward), Charles Halford (Big John), Elizabeth Mitchell (Limbrey), Andy McQueen (Carlos Singh).

If you’ve not watched the previous seasons, it really is a fun bit of escapist teen drama… Somewhat ‘The Goonies’ meets ‘Ozark’ meets ‘Dawson’s Creek’, which, I know, sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it really does! If you want to know more about the show, we have interviewed both Production Designer Daniel Novotny & Cinematographer Brad Smith, along with the series composer Fil Eisler, who give some really interesting insights into what goes into making the drama.

Outer Banks Seasons 3 premieres Thursday, 23rd February 2023 on Netflix worldwide.
