See The ‘Outlander’ Season 7 Titles, Performed By Sinead O’Connor

We’re still a while from getting actual episodes of Outlander Season 7, which will arrive in the Summer, however, as a Valentine’s Day gift to the fans, they have released the new title sequence for the series, which this time around is performed by Sinead O’Connor.

“We are honoured to have Sinead O’Connor performing The Skye Boat Song. Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about Outlander,” said Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer of ‘Outlander’. “She is talented beyond measure. Hers is a voice of the ages — one which pierces heart and soul — and embodies the spirit of the show.”

The series has adapted its iconic theme song, “The Skye Boat Song,” to each season, drawing inspiration from upcoming storylines and locations. This season’s interpretation was crafted and performed by the Grammy-winning artist.

‘Outlander’ is set to return for Season 7 this Summer, and picks up after the events of the season six finale, which left Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in a particularly dangerous position… *spoiler ahead*… Our time-travelling heroine had just been arrested by Richard Brown (Chris Larkin) for the murder of Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds)… and for being a witch… because, of course… Whatever happens, I’m sure Jamie (Sam Heughan) will come to the rescue, as he tends to do when it comes to his other half. If all that wasn’t enough, there is the little issue of a war of independence looming against the English…

The series stars Balfe and Heughan alongside Sophie Skelton as “Brianna MacKenzie,” Richard Rankin as “Roger MacKenzie,” John Bell as “Young Ian,” David Berry as “Lord John Grey,” Caitlin O’Ryan as “Lizzie Beardsley,” Paul Gorman as “Josiah Beardsley” and “Keziah Beardsley,” and newcomers Charles Vandervaart as “William Ransom,” Izzy Meikle-Small as “Rachel Hunter” and Joey Phillips as “Denzell Hunter.”

It was announced back in January that the 8th Season would be the last, however, we still have 16 episodes of season seven and 10 episodes of season eight to get through first. In addition, we also have prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which centres on the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, has been ordered for a 10-episode series as well.

The ‘Outlander’ television series is inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling books, which have sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide, with all nine of the books gracing the New York Times best-seller list. The “Outlander” television series has become a worldwide success with audiences, spanning the genres of history, science fiction, romance, and adventure in one amazing tale.

Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Andy Harries, Jim Kohlberg, Caitríona Balfe, and Sam Heughan serve as executive producers on “Outlander,” which is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Left Bank Pictures and Story Mining & Supply Company, in association with Sony Pictures Television.
