Prime Video UK Sets November Premiere Date For ‘Fargo’ Season 5

Prime Video UK has set a November UK premiere date for Fargo Season 5, the anthology drama which this season will star Juno Temple, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The latest instalment of ‘Fargo’ is set in Minnesota and North Dakota, in 2019. After an unexpected series of events lands “Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lyon” (Juno Temple – Ted Lasso, Little Birds, Dirty John) in hot water with the authorities, this seemingly typical Midwestern housewife is suddenly plunged back into a life she thought she had left behind.

North Dakota Sheriff Roy Tillman (John Hamm – Mad Men, The Morning Show) has been searching for Dot for a long time. A rancher, preacher and a constitutional lawman, Roy believes that he is the law and therefore is above the law. At his side is his loyal but feckless son, Gator (Joe Keery – Stranger Things), who is desperate to prove himself to his larger-than-life father. Roy also enlists Ole Munch (Sam Spruell – The Gold, Doctor Who, Legend), a shadowy drifter of mysterious origin to help with his hunt.

With her deepest secrets beginning to unravel, Dot attempts to shield her family from her past, but her doting, well-meaning husband Wayne (David Rysdahl – Oppenheimer, No Exit, Nine Days) keeps running to his mother, Lorraine Lyon (Jennifer Jason Leigh – Weeds, The Hateful Eight, Atypical), for help. She is the CEO of the largest debt collection agency in the country, but the “Queen of Debt” is unimpressed with her son’s choice of wife and spares no opportunity to voice her disapproval.

However, when Dot’s unusual behaviour catches the attention of Minnesota Police Deputy Indira Olmstead (Richa Moorjani – Never Have I Ever) and North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr (Lamorne Morris – New Girl, Call Me Kat), Lorraine appoints her in-house counsel and primary adviser, Danish Graves (Dave Foley – The Middle, Young Sheldon, The Kids in the Hall), to aid her daughter-in-law. After all, family is family. But Dot has an uncanny knack for survival. And with her back to the wall, she’s about to show why one should never provoke a mother.

The series is produced by Peabody and Emmy-winning showrunner/writer/director Noah Hawley and his production company 26 Keys, Warren Littlefield (The Handmaid’s Tale) exec produces via The Littlefield Company, alongside Steve Stark, Kim Todd and Joel and Ethan Coen. The series is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions, with MGM Television serving as the lead studio.

If you’re wondering why this is popping up on Prime Video and not Channel 4, Amazon acquired MGM in 2021, so now holds the international rights to the show. It’s not impossible that ‘Fargo’ will show up at a later date on Channel 4 in the UK, but that has not been confirmed. At least this does mean it will air in the UK in line with the USA premiere date on FX.

Fargo‘ Season 5 premieres Wednesday, 22nd November 2023 on Prime Video UK. The series airs Tuesday, November 21st, 2023 via FX on Hulu in the USA.
