The BBC has renewed two of its big entertainment shows, handing a 2nd Season to ‘Gladiators‘, and a 5th Season to ‘Race Across the World‘ ahead of its 4th Season premiere in April.
The iconic physical challenge gameshow ‘Gladiators’, made by Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK, returned to our screens earlier this year, and saw father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh take over hosting duties, alongside a new collection of Gladiators. The contenders take on a variety of classic challenges including fan-favourites DUEL, HANG TOUGH and THE ELIMINATOR, along with a series of brand-new games.
The renewal isn’t a huge shock given the show has been something of a ratings hit for the BBC, becoming the biggest entertainment launch for the Beeb in seven years, with an average of over six million viewers per episode throughout the run. The new season will film in August 2024 at the Sheffield Arena.
‘Race Across the World’ will return this April to the BBC for Season 4, however, it has already been renewed for Season 5. The BAFTA-winning hit series sees a group of people on a frenetic race across the world. Travellers can choose any route they like – but no flights or phones are allowed.
As they navigate their way across thousands of miles, they will travel through spectacular scenery and dynamic cities, visit ancient wonders, learn local customs, and take part in time-honoured traditions.?But the physical journey is only half of the story…??As they take on the challenge of travelling across the world, perhaps the greatest thing they’ll discover is about themselves and one another.

‘Race Across the World‘ Season 4 premieres Wednesday, 10th April 2024 at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer. ‘Gladiators’ Season 2 films this Summer, and will likely be released in early 2025.
