Jeremy Renner is back as the ‘Mayor of Kingstown‘ as Paramount+ announces a June premiere date for Season 3.
From Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan (‘Yellowstone’), co-created with Hugh Dillon, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ follows Mike McLusky (Renner) and his family – power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
As we head into season three, a series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.
Alongside Renner, the series stars Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Michael Beach.
The drama is Renner’s first major production following the devastating snowplough accident in December 2022, which nearly killed him. The actor was helping to dig out his nephew’s truck in Lake Tahoe when he was pulled under the vehicle by the track. He broke 30 bones and was airlifted to hospital in critical condition, spending 16 days in hospital being treated for blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries.
The series is executive produced by Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson and Regina Corrado.
‘Mayor of Kingstown‘ Season 3 premieres Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 on Paramount+ in the USA and Canada, and on Monday, 3rd June 2024 on Paramount+ UK and other international territories.
