U&Alibi has set a March UK premiere date for ‘Miss Scarlet‘ (now, minus “The Duke”) as she returns for more crime-solving in Season 5.
Criminals have never stumped Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips – ‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘The Crown’), but a new Detective Inspector…? She’s on the case! Whilst Miss Scarlet has spend the last few years with her childhood friend and will-they-won’t-they love interest, Inspector William “The Duke” Wellington (played by Stuart Martin), when the Duke leaves for America, she finds herself dealing with a new DI, and he doesn’t seem to want or need help from a private investigator…
Tom Durant Pritchard (This Is Going To Hurt, The Crown) plays Alexander Blake, a handsome former soldier and respected detective inspector who joins the force at Scotland Yard to replace the Duke. Shortly after he starts his new job, he meets private detective Miss Eliza Scarlet. He’s not particularly shocked by a woman working as a private eye, so Eliza takes this to mean she’ll be given more cases. But their relationship gets off to a rocky start since Blake has decided not to allow private detectives to aid in his investigations. As Blake and Miss Scarlet cross paths at various crime scenes across London, they can’t help but develop mutual respect for one another, and perhaps even an attraction.
In addition to Durant Pritchard and Phillips, series regulars Evan McCabe as Detective Fitzroy, Cathy Belton as Ivy, Felix Scott as Patrick Nash, Paul Bazely as Clarence, Simon Ludders as Mr. Potts, and Tim Chipping as Detective Phelps have all returned for season five.
Created by Rachael New, the series is written by Rachael New and Ben Edwards. The executive producers are Harvey Myman, Susanne Simpson, Jin Ishimoto, Patrick Irwin, Patty Lenahan Ishimoto, and Rachael New. The Irish co-producer is Jim Duggan, Serbian co-producer Andelija Vlaisavljevic and the senior series producer for MASTERPIECE is Erin Delaney. The directors for season five are Ivan Zivkovic and Milos Kodemo. Miss Scarlet is a Miss Scarlet Limited production co-produced with MASTERPIECE in association with Other Mans Shoes and Work in Progress with pre-investment from UKTV.
