by Dave Elliott

Another brilliant MCM Comic Con wrapped at the end of May at London’s Excel Centre, and as always, it delivered an incredible few days packed with geeky goodness. From major celebrity guests and panel talks to stunning cosplay, Artist Alley creativity, and lots more, May 2025’s event was an absolute treat for fans.

If you’ve never experienced the magic of MCM Comic Con London, picture this: three days of non-stop geeky fun at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre. It’s like stepping into a giant playground for fans of all things nerdy, from TV, film, comics, games, cosplay, and more. Whether you’re hunting down rare merch, meeting your favourite stars, or just geeking out with fellow fans, there’s something for everyone.

But what really makes MCM special isn’t just the big names or flashy panels, it’s the vibe. Tickets often sell out before any guest announcements, which says a lot about how much people love the whole experience. It’s a place where you can be your full geeky self, surrounded by others who totally get it. From the incredible cosplay to the welcoming, creative community, MCM has built a reputation for being one of the most inclusive, feel-good fan events out there.

To give you some idea of the size and scope of MCM London, here is a 360 Virtual Walkthrough video from our friends over at Comic-Con News, which shows you a little taste of the show:

Geektown Interviews – Big Names From Film, TV, Games & Comics

As always, Team Geektown was on the ground, and we were lucky enough to get some exclusive press interviews with some of the guests attending this year.

Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts, The Walking Dead)

In a wide-ranging and engaging interview, Dan Fogler dives deep into his love of comic books and the projects he’s brought to life through them: Moon Lake, Fish Kill, and Brooklyn Gladiator. He reflects on his early days with Heavy Metal magazine and how he’s now taking his comics indie with a new initiative, ‘Fogler’s Fictions’. Dan also teases future volumes of his titles and a prequel called The Last Storm. Beyond comics, he shares stories from his time on The Walking Dead, Fantastic Beasts, and offers a glimpse into his role in House of the Dragon. His blend of fanboy energy, humour, and storytelling passion made for an inspiring and unpredictable interview that truly embodied the spirit of MCM.

Nadji Jeter (Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, The Last of Us game)

Nadji shared his personal journey growing up alongside the character of Miles Morales, reflecting on how his own background and family inspired the performance. He spoke about discovering the character’s roots, resonating with Miles’ cultural identity, and the importance of representation. He also discussed the emotional impact of playing Sam in The Last of Us, his first video game role, and the differences between working with studios like Naughty Dog and Insomniac. Full of heart and humour, Nadji’s insights gave fans a deeper connection to two iconic roles.

Michelle Ang and Noshir Dalal (Star Wars: The Bad Batch)

Michelle and Noshir discussed how they landed their roles as Omega and Rampart in The Bad Batch, reflecting on the evolution of their characters across the series. Michelle touched on Omega’s growth from wide-eyed child to determined leader, while Noshir explored the layered villainy of Rampart and his unexpected return in Season 3. Their insights into voice acting, storytelling, and emotional arcs offered a compelling glimpse behind the scenes of the Star Wars universe.

Anjali Bhimani (Overwatch, Critical Role)

Anjali shared her love for the Overwatch community, the emotional power of storytelling in games, and her journey back into tabletop role-playing with Critical Role. She quoted some fan-favourite lines, introduced her quirky new character from Avowed, and offered thoughtful advice to aspiring voice actors navigating today’s industry. Her mix of humour, sincerity, and deep experience made for a fun and inspiring chat.

Walter Jones, Steve Cardenas, and Karan Ashley (Power Rangers)

These original Power Rangers stars delivered an interview bursting with nostalgia and heartfelt reflection. They shared stories from the early days of filming, including wild stunts, favourite filming locations like Bronson Caves and Australia, and unexpected international fan moments (including being mobbed in the Dominican Republic!). They talked about the impact of Power Rangers across generations, the overwhelming support from fans, and the legacy left by castmates like Jason David Frank. They also delved into the challenges and joys of reprising their roles for the Once & Always Netflix special, and what the future may or may not hold for the franchise. Their message was clear: Power Rangers has touched lives around the world, and they’re deeply grateful to be part of that legacy.

Patton Oswalt, Jordan Blum & Scott Hepburn (Minor Threats Comic Book… and, weirdly, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners…)

In this hilarious interview, the trio discuss the origins of their comic Minor Threats, their love for misfit characters, and their creative inspirations. The comic flips the typical superhero narrative, focusing instead on the low-level henchpeople and overlooked villains who are trying to survive in a city dominated by over-the-top heroes and terrifying supervillains. It’s a darkly funny and emotionally rich story with deep comic book lore and sharp satire. The trio also spent a good chunk of the interview fanboying over Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, proving they’re fans just like the rest of us.

Briana Knickerbocker (Re:Zero, Demon Slayer, Carol & Tuesday)

As I was running late on Friday (due to traffic), we also have a couple of interviews captured by Geektown Radio podcast co-host Darryl, of Hollywood North News, firstly, Briana Knickerbocker.

Briana was an absolute delight to chat with, bringing her signature energy and humour to a wide-ranging conversation about anime, voice acting, music, and life. She shared stories about falling into acting after ditching a fashion design career that made her soul scream, recording solo in her upgraded home studio (now complete with ‘clouds’), and what it’s like to be part of the Demon Slayer and Re:Zero casts. She opened up about the deeply supportive voiceover community, the emotional impact of meeting fans, especially little girls who bring her handmade gifts, and her love of gaming (naming The Last of Us Part II as her all-time favourite). She also teased new music, having just filmed a video in Scotland, and spoke about her dream of someday performing songs in an anime or game. Honest, funny, and full of passion, Briana brought a heartfelt spark to the show.

Kimiko Glenn & Blake Roman (Hazbin Hotel)

The duo behind two fan-favourite voices from Hazbin Hotel talked about the surreal experience of seeing the show’s popularity come to life at conventions, and how recording their roles often meant working solo in booths scattered across cities: Kimiko in LA, and Blake in New York. They reflected on the challenges of remote recording setups (including makeshift closets and improvised acoustic treatments), how the pandemic reshaped their working environments, and how far their gear has come since their early voiceover days. They also teased what’s ahead in Season 2, promising even more infectious songs, bigger emotions, and a continuation of the show’s already impactful storytelling. With both humour and sincerity, they shared how meaningful it is to connect with fans face-to-face and see how the show has positively influenced their lives.

Panel Highlights – On The Main Stage

We also caught footage from some of the major panels hosted by the always-brilliant Wee Claire (aka Claire Lim). Unlike the press interviews, we’re not allowed to upload full panels from MCM, so these clips are in playlists below:

David Tennant Panel Playlist (6 Videos)

David delighted fans with his trademark charm and wit, discussing everything from his early work to Doctor Who, and being Scottish, plus taking lots of questions from the audience. A must-watch for any Tennant devotee, packed with laughs, surprises, and heartfelt moments.

Patton Oswalt Panel Playlist (3 Videos)

Patton took to the stage solo for a lively and heartfelt discussion covering his love for comics, pop culture, and storytelling. He talked about his latest projects, including Minor Threats, and shared personal insights and geeky humour with a very enthusiastic crowd.

Spotlight on Artist Alley

One of our favourite parts of the show is always Artist Alley, a creative hub packed with incredible comic artists, illustrators, and independent publishers. Find out more here.

A special mention this year goes to Patton Oswalt, who was at the event signing copies of Minor Threats, alongside co-creators Jordan Blum and Scott Hepburn. The comic dives deep into the lives of C-list supervillains in a world where the psychotic Stickman has murdered Kid Dusk, the beloved sidekick of Twilight City’s top hero, The Insomniac. As The Insomniac spirals and his superhero team, The Continuum, turn the city into a police state in their hunt for Stickman, the real victims are the low-level criminals caught in the crossfire. One such ex-villain, Playtime, bands together a ragtag team to track down the Stickman themselves, launching a gritty journey through the dark underbelly of this superhero society. It’s a graphic crime drama that’s part send-up and part love letter to the fading golden age of comics, as heroes and villains alike are dragged into a harsher, more cynical era. Netflix are currently on a live-action adaptation for the streaming service.

Also, a standout in the Alley was our old friend Neil Gibson’s Twisted Comics. We got a sneak peek at early artwork for their ambitious new adaptations of Black Mirror stories, officially licensed by Netflix. The mind-bending anthology series has captivated millions of viewers for the past decade, revealing humanity’s worst traits, greatest innovations and more. Soon, you’ll be able to experience classic episodes away from your screen and on comic book pages brought to life by Twisted Comics. The Kickstarter campaign for the launch title, USS Callister (I got a little look at some early art for this, and it looks great), written by Neil Gibson and illustrated by Silvano Beltramo, will take flight this summer, with other iconic Black Mirror titles to follow. You can check them out at Twisted Comics and their Black Mirror Comics line.

Cosplay Highlights

As always, cosplay at MCM London was on another level, with fans showing off their amazing creativity and attention to detail. Whilst I did manage to get a few photos (below), I was stuck in press interviews and panels a lot of the time, so we also have the brilliant Cosplay video, again from our friends over at Comic-Con News.
