Adult Swim is expanding the multiverse with ‘President Curtis’, a brand-new animated comedy set within the world of ‘Rick and Morty’. The series stars Keith David (Greenleaf, Community), who reprises his fan-favourite role as President Andre Curtis, and was unveiled during a surprise appearance by the actor at the “Rick and Morty” panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Co-created by Dan Harmon and James Siciliano, both executive producers on ‘Rick and Morty’, the new show promises to dive deeper into the Commander-in-Chief’s chaotic world. Joining David in the voice cast are Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Jim Rash (Community).
‘President Curtis’ follows the President and his eccentric staff as they deal with the kinds of crises that Rick Sanchez couldn’t be bothered with. From interdimensional diplomacy to paranormal investigations and other unexplained phenomena.
“President Curtis has always been a blast to play,” said David. “Getting to explore his world more deeply in this new series is a dream. I can’t wait for fans to see what kind of chaos he stirs up when Rick isn’t around to steal the spotlight.”
Dan Harmon and James Siciliano added: “President Curtis has always been one of our favourite characters to write – he’s the only person in the multiverse who can go toe-to-toe with Rick and still hold office. Now we finally get to go on sci-fi missions from Curtis’ point of view. And with Keith David leading the charge, it’s going to be a wild ride.”
Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen praised the new series: “This is a series we would have greenlit even if it didn’t have anything at all to do with ‘Rick and Morty.’ President Andre Curtis is just that good of a character. The rest of the world the team has fleshed out is super fun and totally stands on its own. We can’t wait for you to see it.”
Alongside Harmon and Siciliano, Danielle Uhlarik, Monica Mitchell, and Steve Levy will also serve as executive producers.
‘President Curtis’ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Adult Swim in the US. There is currently no UK broadcaster. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
